Hampton inn, Galeria Mall. 20 Minute drive to the game (Go Early).  When you get there, find a good mom and pop area where the food smells good and just throw some cash at them. Eat and Drink before you go in the stadium because you will get more fun out of it meeting new people and you will get more food and drinks out of it. 

 

This is what my family does when they come from out of town. 120 a night. its worth it. Lots of Food choices at the mall too

I would stay in New York City.  There's more to do there which is why Marshawn Lynch was so excited about being a Bill.

If you want places in Buffalo to stay in, the best neighborhood is Elmwood Village, which is Elmwood Ave from Bryant St up to the 198 parkway. Lots of restaurants and shoppes. I think the AGK art gallery renovation should be done by then. 

 

Next best is Allentown which is Allen St from Franklin St to Wadsworth.

 

Chippewa St from Main to Elmwood is the night club district.

 

Other things and places to see are Canalside downtown, along with the naval warship and submarine you can tour.

 

Buffalo Riverworks located in what they call Silo City, a collection of old grain elevators being turned into an arts and nightlife district.

 

The Sabres might be playing that weekend. Might be worth seeing a game.

 

And speaking of Niagara Falls, if you go, stay on the Canadian side. It's a lot nicer with way more to do, and a better view of the falls. I don't know what the current requirements are for crossing the border but bring your passport and you'll be good.

Like many tourist areas, once you get off the beaten path you risk getting beaten.  ... Not that bad like Baltimore, but it simply isn't nice.

I am confused. this topic has to do with buffalo locations and people coming intown from out of town.   What does any of this have to do with OP? and the question he asked?

Niagara Falls Canada is where I'd stay.  I usually stay at one of the Mariott brand hotels overlooking the Falls.  Second place would be Lewiston. 

 

P.S.  Besides not knowing where Buffalo was, Lynch also seemed to be lost on that fact that DUI, hit-and-run, concealed carry without a permit, and assault are illegal.

From the varied responses in this thread from people who know the area, you can see its not an easy decision & every place has pros & cons.
I would probably pick some hotel downtown, close to restaurants & you dont really have to worry about rifraff as police are everywhere in the "Entertainment District".

You could probably take a shuttle to the stadium or meet up with someone or some tailgating group as well.

The alternative idea would be to get like an Air BNB in some quaint village home in East Aurora or Hamburg, Orchard Park & avoid the city of Buffalo altogether.

You'll be fine with either choice i imagine & as long as you get to the game & have a good time, you'll be good to go regardless.

 

Its too bad its such a difficult choice tho. And unfortunate our new stadium after decades of a community discussing it, with billions designated for a new stadium, we made next to no attempt to make a more attractive game day experience for fans like yourself. But so go the limits of small town thinking i guess lol. Good luck with ur decision & hope u have fun!

How there isn't a good hotel near the stadium (or really anything of interest for miles) is insane. Good thing there's a bunch of dirt lots that look like crap 355 days per year and on the other days are filled with idiots jumping off of school buses.

Most of NYC is closer to NJ than it is rest of NY state.
