No problem - so if flying in the village of Williamsville is basically 5 min away from the airport and is safe and eminently walkable with lots of places to eat and drink. Enjoy your trip up!

Embassy Suites downtown Buffalo is close to a lot of things and is a nice hotel.  It costs a few bucks but is well worth it.

I’ve found Allentown to have a lot of great places to hang out.  Me and a group grabbed an AirBnb for the Broncos game there as well this year.

Ground truth: it's ok to spend day-night in NF, that is IF you haven't seen falls.***

 

Casino-Park-3rd St triangle is lovely, well-policed, and safe. Worth it just to grab a drink and watch 2200h fireworks from outside deck at, say, Sheraton Falls View or wherever.

 

***Of course there is the stray round or two that always sneaks into the "bubble". It's from the tussles (well, murders) along Pine Ave, ~400m NW.

 

But, hey, at that range there's a big drop in velocity...so it's just a mosquito bite!

 

For me, it's music to my ears (kinda LTC Kilgore-like), but your mileage may vary.

When I visit, if not staying with friends, I usually stay in a hotel somewhere near the UB North Campus.  There are several options, most are very affordable, the area is clean and safe, plenty of free parking and easy access to all of the highways to get to the airport, downtown, the Bills stadium, etc.  There's a big Wegmans where you can get everything you need for a tailgate, the original Duff's is nearby for wings, and if you want to go downtown to the bars, you can Uber for $25 or less.  It's not a walkable area, so if you wanted everything within walking distance, I would recommend something in downtown Buffalo.

 

I came in for the Green Bay-Bills game last season and stayed in this area and everything went smoothly.  We took an Uber downtown for a Sabres game and to hit the bars before/after and drove out to the stadium on Sunday for the game.  It's also fairly close to Niagara Falls, if you have interest in going there during your visit.  We didn't have time for that during our brief stay.

For an alternative experience, Ellicottville is a quaint ski resort town with some nice pizza shops and traffic to and from the stadium are likely to be better because everyone is coming from and going back north…. ~30 mins. 
 

all depends on what you’re looking for.

Well it has the highest Violent crime rate of any city in New York State

 

So it’s not coming from nowhere

 

But even the east side has a lot of friendly people

I see the Broncos game is on November 13th so there is the possibility of cold, wintry weather. Keep that in mind.

 

IF you go to Niagara Falls (and it's well worth it if you've never been there) Goat Island is the main feature of the so-called Niagara Falls State Park. It is awe-inspiring. I was there last summer with my 20 year old, California-raised nephew. I had visited many times as a youngster and young adult growing up in WNY but seen through the lens of adulthood and my nephews eyes, I came away with a whole new appreciation.  The natural beauty is breathtaking and the landscape architecture is superb. Also you can access the Cave of the Winds and the Maid of the Mist nearby.

 

Across the border, Niagara Falls, Canada is an illustration of the difference that governments can make regarding the use of natural resources. The Canadian side is everything the US side should have been (for instance, no toxic waste dumps). The Canadian side is a VERY NICE tourist district by any standards but you will need a passport to cross the border.

 

Enjoy your visit to Western New York.

There is nothing to see on the East side other than the Broadway Market and, maybe, the abandoned Central Terminal, if you're an architecture buff.

therss also the buffalo museum of science and mlk park

 

but I digress as someone who spends a lot of time on the eastside I wouldn’t go there when visiting because there are much better spots

Architecturally, didn't they restore the wading pool at MLK park?

 

Also isn't that right near the Buffalo Museum of Science? Also I believe there are some Underground Railroad sites.

 

Not necessarily for a Bills fan on a short visit but there are a few things to do on the East Side.

The East side is my home turf. I literally grew up at the steps of St. Stan's, the Mother Parish of Polonia.

I haven't been to MLK Park in a while. But the old rink there was where I leaned to ice skate.
