Chile: Far-right party on top in constitution rewrite vote

The far-right opposition Republican Party is set to take almost half of the seats on a committee to rewrite Chile's constitution. Its leader has previously expressed kinship with Donald Trump and Jair Bolsonaro.

A far-right party came first in an election on Sunday to choose 50 members of a committee that will rewrite Chile's constitution.

The Republican Party led with 35% of the vote, equating to around 22 seats on the committee.

The party opposes the longstanding effort to change Chile's constitution, which was imposed in 1980 during the right-ring dictatorship of General Augusto Pinochet.

Truth is the ruling US intelligence and military establishment state, regardless of what administration plays the role of window dressing, doesn't like these socialist movements or idealists in resource rich countries overseas.  Ideas such as nationalization of a countries resources can make it more difficult to employ the the US corporate sector and Washington's intelligence services for plundering the mineral and natural resources of these countries.

Hopefully this horribly failing Biden presidency is teaching locals a similar lesson.

Not that the GOP is any better, but Individual civil liberties, lower income taxes, rule of law, and personal responsibility are the pillars of a strong foundation. (OK, I added the lower income tax part, but believe it)

Watching the state fail over and over again, while begging them to have more power and control in daily lives seems like it would eventually lead to self-awareness and self-reflection.

Odd coming from a political side which wants to ban transgenderism, abortion, gay marriage, etc. doesn’t sound very personal freedom to me.
