So pro-death instead?  The majority of voters/citizens support reasonable rules around abortions such as up to 15 weeks of pregnancy, considerations for the life of the mother, and rules around rape and in cest (why is that word censored here?) Compromise and intelligent discussion should be easy.  But its not.  Because even the simplest of things is politicized and  agreeing to anything on the abortion issue would eliminate the biggest of very few issues Democrats can carry into the next election cycle.

50 percent of women who had one abortion had multiple. I understand the need arises due to medical complications but those cases are outliers not standard procedure. Seems like abortion is a easier way to right a wrong than common sense and personal responsibility.

What if the women is in a bad relationship and can't get out of it and not really in control of her body (the guy is controlling) and does not want his damn kid.

My county is a test site for the latest NY state give away. New York is already the 3rd most...not sure what the word is....welfare friendly state behind only Vermont and Rhode Island. But apparently that isn't enough. Monroe county will be a test site for the next phase. Because apparently we're not giving away enough to those without jobs. So, in addition to the welfare checks and any other aid, 50 families will be receiving an additional $600 per month for a year. But not just any random welfare recipients. In order to be eligible to receive the extra $600, the recipient must have been the target of a DPS investigation for poor care of their child(ren.) Somehow the family will be tracked for a year to see if the kids are better fed etc. a year from now than before. Might want to track drug and liquor sales in the area of the recipients while they're at it.

Perhaps this thread and this issue can help to illustrate why things are unraveling.  The centrist position, as evidenced by polls, is that abortion should be rare, but safe and legal up 15 weeks or so.  This makes sense to me.  However, we all have different issues that are meaningful to us and it's not an important issue to me and I don't care much about it.  The people who most care about this issue seem to be at the extremes; either ban it completely or make it legal up until birth.  Those people are loud, and they like to shout at each other.  For example, a thread about how the US has gone off the rails quickly devolved into a shouting match about abortion.

 

This might imply that the quiet sensible center remains larger than it appears but less vocal.  What Richard Nixon used to call the Silent Majority.  But the agenda is set by the people at the extremes, and when they shout long enough about how you should be able to choose your own gender or why the Second Amendment allows people to use howitzers in shopping malls, they start to normalize what most people would have previously considered crazy.

What a waste of money.  Here's how it will go.  The money will go to 40's, dope, and lottery tickets.  After a year, the kids will be no better off and the state will declare the payments were too low.  Then blame Trump. What a mess.

What's happened is a large group of people whose work and social status was overvalued due to race have found themselves nearly equally valued to those of other races and similar skills and are resentful and angry about it.  And a con man, shyster tapped into the anger and united them in a nasty and destructive political movement.  but they will lose....
