So many great choices available, Payton, Faulk, Thuman, LT, Sayers, etc. even McCaffrey, Eckler, etc today would be nice. 
 

I think I’d go with Adrian Peterson, just slightly over LT, only because he was gone the minute he got past the second level, he still had awesome power, good enough hands and could absolutely carry a team.  He was one of the all time great talents, too bad injuries and stupidity cost him thousands of yards or he probably goes down as the all time leader.

personally, I’d take him.  He looked to be as special as special can be.  Wish I would’ve been able to watch him live and remember.

 

other than him-  I’ll take Adrian Peterson or Earl Campbell.   I love the violence in their running style.

And while I remember OJ being a good receiver out of the backfield, contrary to what some others may say, he was not a great pass-blocker.   And, in this O, backs need to block.  

OJ's biggest weakness was fumbling -- he was a fumbling machine. He had 62 fumbles on 2,607 touches. By way of comparison, Frank Gore had 46 fumbles on 4,219 touches. Emmit Smith had 61 fumbles on 4,924 touches. Marshall Faulk had 36 fumbles on 3,503 touches. 

 

As you may know, McDermott is highly allergic to fumblers.

At one time or another Gilchrist had sought to invest in a sporting goods store called “Cookie’s Closet, become a public relations specialist and a mining prospector in northern Ontario.  He was so excited about the latter that he hired an Indian guide, rented a helicopter and flew over the lake where a large body of copper ore was discovered, dropped on pontoons into the water and staked his claim.  He also tried to get Bills owner, Ralph Wilson to invest in 20,000 pairs of autographed Cookie Gilchrist earmuffs to sell at the 1964 AFL championship game.  Wilson declined the offer.  It was also reported that Cookie sold Christmas trees outside of the Bills War Memorial Stadium.

Lynch was most talented running back ever.  A bad landing spot on entering the league limited what he was able to achieve.  He could run inside power amongst the best and also outside. He also had the softest hands and would have been Faulk in the passing game if used properly.

I'd say Thurman.  He's my fav Bill of all time.  I don't discuss the other team he played for.  That never happened!   hahaha

Both great pass catching backs, both can eek out that tough yardage on short downs, and both could pass protect. 

 

If I had to pick a Bills player, Thurman would be the obvious choice to me, even over OJ.

Today's player, I think I would have to go with McCaffrey.

Barry would be great from a straight running perspective, but for the team, I would go for more a total package running back. 

 

So, a healthy Christian McCaffrey or Marshall Faulk would be my picks.
