Buy-Low: Chase Roullier (C)

I wouldn’t hate it for the vet minimum, but there is little upside here. He will turn 30 this summer and isn’t an athlete, but he is a solid player. However, this would be a depth play as he would essentially be this year’s Greg Van Roten as a guy who can play center and guard. Is he an upgrade to Greg Mancz? Sure. But he isn’t much more than that.

Maybe Bates at C, but big Rick got paid so he’s not going anywhere (it would seem) and Morse is clearly the best C on the team by a long stretch, even if he’s basically average these days.

Veteran depth always a good thing, bring him in if it makes cap sense.

I'd love this move -- especially if he could play G. Roullier and Torrence at G with Morse at C is way better than what we had just 3 weeks ago. If we can get him on a low budget deal while he gets healthy, that's a steal. I doubt it happens, but I'd love it if it did.

 

MLB is still top priority though. I don't think our starting MLB is even on the roster yet.
