Football fields are generally oriented in a general North/South configuration because of the sun.  They couldn't do that with the current stadium because of the graveyard on the property that the family wouldn't allow to be moved.  This is partially why Bills games look different on TV than any other stadium. The sun angle is different from what is typical.  Go ahead, Google Map it around.  Google Maps defaults to the top of the screen being North using the Mercator Projection. Coincidentally, one of the only stadiums to have a similar configuration to Highmark Stadium is Hard Rock Stadium.

The new stadium is a little more Northwest to Southeast than strictly North/South and looking at a map that would seem to be at a roughly 90 degree angle to prevailing wind.

SO the answer to your question is a little bit of wins and sun both.

So both sides and NW end zone seats will get angled sun rays with sun lower in the sky for 1 pm games.  Am I right?

Working by the 49er's stadium this week, and saw they have a museum.  I know people have mentioned the Bills should put one up also.  The 49ers though only open theirs for a couple days around game days, it's not open every week.

Visit the Museum - Levi's® Stadium

I think Museum Friday thru Sunday is practical; other days when there are events going on also.

I would say the North EZ will be sunnier than the south in general. The East sideline will have more sun than the West. The NE corner will probably have the most sun overall. The sun doesn't really go East to West across the sky all year, close to the winter solstice it's more southeast to southwest in an arc. Since the silly season is so long now the angle will start to creep further up in the sky as we get into February.

I'm just a guy. YMMV.

If you're looking at tickets I assume they have a model in the store front thingie. Use the flashlight on your phone and run it over the model from East to West. Lower the angle as you do it a couple times to see how it will change in December.

There are 3d sunpath simulators out there where you can plug in specific dates and times and it will show you the sun's path on that day and simulate shadows for various height buildings.

You can also look at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The design is basically the same. The building orientation is very close also. Watch an EPL match at that stadium and you'll see how the sun hits it. It will be very similar.

Good points.  I would think that the new position is a better distribution of sun rays.

@Ga boyFYI, Spurs play at home this Sunday at 9am Eastern. The game is on USA.

London is 5 hours ahead so that would be the equivalent of a 2pm start. Obviously London is significantly further North than Buffalo so that plays into the sun angle also, but you'll get an idea of what the sun will do in general. London is roughly the same latitude as Saskatoon and is almost 10 degrees further north than Buffalo is. For scale, Buffalo is 10 degrees north of places like Dallas and San Diego.

The most recent photos I’ve seen on the internet show that the Steel Contractor is really hauling butt out there on the canopy! And the Decking Contractor is following right behind him, just as he should be. You can NOW see the extent of the long awaited overhang. (I wish I could say the same for the precast Contractor, who still seems to be lagging behind.)
