The dome vs open air debate is irrelevant at this point, I’ve just been waiting for a rendering or press release about the stadium that will impress me. It has yet to happen. The recent concourse renderings look nice new and shiny, but nothing looks particularly modern, or on par with other new stadiums.

So wait, are we getting a dome?

I have to agree. The entire facility will be a huge upgrade over Rich Stadium but it’s no palace. (Although I don’t think it’s intended to be)

Facts! Times have changed though and the next generation of Bill's fans wont show up to a cold stadium unless the team is winning. I hate to imagine what the down years will look like at the New Highmark, especially with enormous ticket prices.

Hopefully sooner!

There will be plenty of places to warm up in the new stadium as opposed to the bone chilling concourses we currently have.

Sometimes it feels like the concourses are colder than outside. That frozen concrete sucks the warmth right out of you.

YouTube link: Stadium speakers being installed

Huge 25,000 pound speakers being placed beneath the canopy and will make it “the loudest stadium in the NFL.”

So what does this mean?   Music and PA blasting at ridiculous levels? Fake crowd noise pumped in?

Not sure what the point is in declaring that the speakers will make it the “loudest stadium in the NFL”? 🤔

So that's why there were very little renderings in the beginning, they were working on the hologram...

Isn't this an old version of the new stadium? I thought the end zones were uncovered now in the latest version?

Not sure what you’re asking. The entire field is uncovered plus about 35% of the stands.

But the entire stadium is fully enclosed.

What I meant was this holographic stadium shows a canopy that goes completely around the stadium. This was a design that was proposed way back. But I think the stadium they are actually building leaves the endzones uncovered. Am I wrong?

Edit: Apparently I am wrong. I just watched the drone video and it shows a covered end zone. So never mind.

Yeah. Originally I think it wasn’t fully enclosed. Thank goodness they changed that. Fully enclosed will seriously lower the wind impact.

Looking at that hologram in particular, I really think fans and players are going to be well protected from the wind.

The wind is the worst part of cold weather, so blocking most of it will make such a difference in terms of comfort level

Some of those seats tucked up under the canopy are going to be super cozy regardless of weather. You'll be dry and out of the wind

A couple of things I notice from looking at the latest series of drone photos (which are really amazing):

1. The precast subcontractor is behind schedule and is holding up the steel subcontractor, who is kicking butt.

2. Unlike the current stadium, there are no vomitories (tunnels) accessing the sideline upper deck. You'll go up or down stairs at the leading edge of the balcony.

Again, the some really great photos!
