Clark is a retched human being. Not a guy they'd bring into the locker room.

Yannick (and Floyd) are the top tier of the available DE list. They'll be the first to be signed and will more than likely start for someone and be paid heftier than we're looking to pay.

If we grab a guy, it's going to be who's left when the logjam gets settled and there's an option looking to settle for what we want to pay and the situational role we have to offer. Maybe that will be Ingram. But more likely a Houston, Quinn, Clowney, or Dunlap.

My dude - you are once again getting Madden level unrealistic. If we're able to get one guy from the list, that's huge. And I'm not convinced we'll even do that. But I'd be here for it.

We don't keep 6 DE's on the 53. It's 5 max. And as I said above, Ngakoue will be one the first signed DE's and way more likely than not, to be a starter for someone. If we do this, it's going to be when the dust settles on the position and someone's willing to settle for the little we can pay and a situational non-starting role.

There is zero chance we a.) Would pay the cost of an Ngakoue or Ingram to be our 4th DE, after bringing in the other to go along with Von and Rousseau (not to mention having already signed Shaq) and b.) That Ngakoue or Ingram would sign here to be the 4th Pass Rusher under Von, Rousseau, and either Ingram or Ngakoue. Both of those guys can start on other teams and would be accepting, at worst, the 3rd role for someone.

I think getting one of them is unrealistic as they represent 2 of the top 4 available DE's I have in Tier 1. As I said above, I think either Houston, Quinn, Clowney, or Dunlap is more in line with a guy that will have to settle for the minimal amount of money we'd offer and the situational pass rush role we'd have for them. Getting Ingram alone would be a shocking massive win. Getting both of them is a fantasy.

https://billswire.usatoday.com/lists/free-agents-buffalo-bills-target-brandon-beane/

Ngakoue Age: 28

Ngakoue had previously been coveted by folks in Buffalo. He fits the 4-3 defensive end mold for the Bills and could be an intriguing option across from Von Miller rushing the passer. Ngakoue against the run is another story.

Cunningham Age: 28

At 6-foot-3, Cunningham could potentially factor in replacing the size the Bills lost in Edmunds departing. Cunningham has previously led the NFL in tackles (2020) and since 2018 has 48 tackles at the line of scrimmage or loss. That’s the most among anyone in the NFL.

It's fun to think about, but in reality these are "break glass"/emergency type signings.

We have basically zero cap room, unless Beane restructures OR extends a few contracts (ie: Ed) with a material savings to this year's cap.  Or these players accept a very low offer, it's possible I guess, but these guys are likely waiting for a key injury and someone to pay closer to their asking price.

Cap aside, just analyzing the roster and Beanes comments:

1. DE: maybe a 50/50 shot we sign someone, best option would be a pass rushing specialist/non-starter,  cant see us signing a fringe starter.  Melvin Ingram would come to mind.  We are keeping 5 DEs tops, AJE improved LY but still inconsistent.  Is Ingram worth it over AJE?   I'd say Beane keeps the younger player, on a cheaper deal

2. MLB: no chance we're signing anyone else before camp, unless a freak injury.  Slight chance prior to draft, but we now have Dodson, Bernard, Spector and Williams competing.  Not to mention Klein is an emergency fall back option.  Like it or not, we're counting on someone to step up this year

I think we signed the guys he was referring to.

I have no idea how we'd sign anyone else impactful at this point. I'm not a cap guy - but we have to be right up against it.

Melvin Ingram is 25x times the player AJE is.  Ingram lives in the backfield, and while he doesn't get as many sacks as other higher tier Edge guys....he wrecks so many plays. Especially against the Bills. He's a complete nightmare

Ingram would be a good signing. I also still think it's possible they extend Ed Oliver which will disappoint some folks, but I suspect they like him more than many surmise. That would open up the funds to get an edge specialist.

AJ had slightly more sacks than Ingram last year and has more sacks than Ingram since entering the league. He’s younger and on the way up vs Ingram who is now past his prime.

AJ has been a solid end in a rotational role. Ingram was a star, but that doesn’t make him the better option at this time.

Depends what kind of $ they could extend him for. I'm not a big fan of his

I understand. I am ambivalent myself, but if you are looking for where they could find money, that is one of the places and I am speculating they have a higher opinion of Oliver than most fans.

I'd rather not see Ingram sign with a competitor and wreck a game this season or in the playoffs

Although, I don't think the Bills will sign him.  Ngakoue, Floyd, Houston are more likely to me
