He is a physical box guy not a cover guy. its now we did it that was successful When Milano was out. I called it When I was on with Akeem on a life podcast with him that, Kelse would get bumped and released after 5 and then a S or or corner would take out. I was Right and THEN he posted my clip saying it on facebook. Just because a dude is bad in coverage does not mean you can not use that dude the same way and scheme coverage different. It does limit you, however. That is why they love versatility so much. If you have a weak spot they will scheme to take advantage of it, much like we schemed to cover him up. Eventually they will figure it out. I hope he doesn’t have to play for extended periods, but as we saw last season hoping and praying does not keep football players healthy and available. He can certainly play a role in a good defense at times. Quote

When your back end is so good it makes up for other issues. As for them figuring it out eventually? They looked at plenty of film on the sidelines to counter it and they still could not counter it. I’m fully on board with going offense first. I loved the first couple rounds. But we need a solid presence in the middle of the zone, and that’s not Klein. He didn’t play enough to get too much film on what we were doing. He’s a stop gap, not the answer. Quote

Now they must develop him. Not sure why anyone would bash the pick? He’s fast and athletic. I wouldn’t expect much early in his career. I preferred others but they weren’t on the board when the Bills picked. Yea well. Sorry. Terrell Bernard was picked last year w a late 3rd pick. So ppl can be soured about it im actually liking Williams pick tho 5 hours ago, Shaw66 said: I wouldn't be so quick to send Bernard to the dumpster. You say you have doubts about Williams's instincts. Well, McDermott didn't have doubts about Bernard's instincts. I really think we have to wait and see. Nobody ever raved over Frazier's creativity, but McDermott is a different guy. From the perspective of casual fans like us, he has a hole in the middle. I doubt he believes he has a hole. He has answer, and if his answer doesn't work, he has another answer. He's going to put these guys on the field soon, and he's going to see what they have. Bernard, Spector, Williams, Bernard. Someone is going to play, and there's a good chance that he actually wins the job, as opposed to getting it because everyone else failed. McD didn’t have doubts Nathan peterman . John from Riverside Posted May 3, 2023 Posted May 3, 2023 He looks like a guy to me that they get in the camp and they’re like holy *****. Who is this guy? We can’t keep him off the field. That’s just my opinion 4 Quote

But if he becomes a young David ? I am pretty okay with that as well Quote
Allen2Moulds Posted May 4, 2023 Posted May 4, 2023 I think him being undersized is greatly exaggerated. 250 is not the norm, it's the exception. Average linebackers are around 230-235. He was 229. 2 1 1 Quote

Bernard I never saw it, but gave him the benefit and for the most part he showed what we thought he'd show: too small/slow, and probably a reach. Had the one lucky touchdown in preseason but for the most part got his butt kicked by 2's and 3's and Spector outplayed him by a fair bit. College tape and measurables seem a bit better for Williams but I'll wait for preseason to see what he does in comparison to make a judgement. After year one Barnard looked to be a whiff to us and you'd have to guess the Bills, or there wouldn't be the need to grab Williams R3. Quote

Or one who has a fairly low perceived low ceiling already on the roster. I might be one of those people LOL My feelings on MLB is if they wanted someone with more proven success they could’ve had him. Everything they’re doing is by plan. So I’m not worried about it. Yes there were other players I wanted but from the Bills point of view they have a plan. There was very little LB talk in UFA connected to the Bills. I believe the only talk was David saying it would’ve been different if Von reached out. I think it’s very possible we see a lot of Milano and Rapp next year. blacklabel Posted May 4, 2023 Posted May 4, 2023 I dunno, I get a good vibe from the guy. I think he's gonna be fine. People forget that Milano also converted from safety. Seems like he has a pretty good feel for the game and he flies to the ball. They'll coach him up and I wouldn't be surprised if he sees a fair bit of playing time. 2 Quote

If we winds up being Matt Milano V2 no one will complain that they are both under 230. 2 4 Quote
Nephilim17 Posted May 4, 2023 Posted May 4, 2023 I was listening to Greg Cosell talk about the BIlls draft and he said that he liked Williams and that he played "bigger" than his size and bigger than Bernard. Said he was a good hitter. So that gave me some confidence. 5 Quote

Hopefully they both develop into starters. The Bills did not need more LB depth at all this year. Already had 6 guys who have been on the 53 man roster in recent years. Quote
