Probably a round too early for this guy.

I agree but they liked him a lot and not having a 4th persuaded them to pull the trigger.  I think the LB run worried them that he wouldn't be there in the early 5th round.  It sucks drafting for a need but it happens.

"Its unreal how this man can read splits, backfield tilts...he is off the spot in a hurry, he is downhill, his run hit ability is as good as any LB in this draft...Dorian and Milano will be an absolute terror LB duo...the Bills have got one here, that is a heck of a pick up by Beane and McDermott"

I approve.

But...but...casual fans on this board, who never heard of him before the pick say he's too small and a bad pick.  So..that's that...🙄🙄🙄🙄

He’s going to be Matt Milano’s backup.  And he’s a great player.   The bills went offense for the first two rounds so any shot of landing a starter at mlb evaporated right there.

now we’re just adding depth.  Good pick.

this is the Bills.  Very tough to find a third round rookie at any position who could start on this team.

It's a blessing we picked Williams here so certain folks can bash Beane again.  The Torrence pick had left them speechless. Beane--genius to fool in 90 minutes.🙂

The more I think about this pick the more I hate it. No idea wtf McBeane is doing. Such a good first two rounds and then they had to go full McBeane. They can't help themselves.

We extend Milano. Then spend a third round pick on a guy to be his backup/ST player..... a year after spending a third round pick on a guy to be his backup/special teams player.

Ugh

Unfortunately, Beane is just an average GM when it comes to talent evaluation. He is better at the cap management but that is getting harder with Josh being expensive.

All teams miss on pick, and Beane’s first rounders have been solid, but since 2019 the only player selects by the Bills who has gone to the pro bowl (a much lower achievement than in earlier times) is Wyatt Teller with the Browns. That’s just not good enough to compete long term unfortunately.

It is hard to get excited though because this year the ESPN analysts are overly positive about every single pick

The days of real analysis are over. It is an entertainment show now and the entertainers can’t ruin the show with a negative take on ANY draft pick. Sad

Uhhh. No. Kiper blasted a bunch of prospects. Riddick too.

the only absolute waste of espn team was booger who literally piggy backs whatever the other two say and just says the most general things “player x will really get coached up by coach y once they bring him into the building z”

literally he just says that over and over and over

Williams certainly looks like an athlete and he is fast.  The Bills seem to have a current “type” at LB - undersized with speed.  From Brandon Beane’s press conference it sounds like they took him as an outside backer, not as someone who will compete to replace Edmunds next year.

Probably unfair to suggest this, but it seems like they hit on Matt Milano and now are looking for another guy in a similar mold.  Williams has speed and athletic movement skills to play in a pass happy NFL, let’s see how he develops.

Looking at body types, Williams looks more the part than Terrel Bernard did last year.  Anxious to see if Bernard bulks up over the offseason.  Milano really built some muscle after a year in the program, hopefully Bernard can too.  Williams, though, already is built.

Good teams like the Bills are usually not drafting immediate starters in Round 3 unless it's a RB. His size and speed say he has strong safety in his future.

I was talking about Edmunds

Ah, sorry to misunderstand.

But equally ridiculous. As I pointed out, there's a reason Tremaine is now the fourth-highest paid off-ball linebacker in football, behind only Roquan Smith, Shaquille Leonard and Fred Warner. He's an extremely good player. Terrific applies.

The whole D played much worse when he was out.

Hard to replace, as we seem to be finding out, though I hope I'm wrong about that.

McD definitely forced this pick. The plans for him will be backup to backup and will play STs. It’s the McD way. We could only hope that players like Taiwan Jones and Matakevich never made anymore more than these rookie contract guys. But the fact is, McD likes to keep all of them. Becaise that’s his mentality. He’s a small man himself. Was an underdog. He loves the small underdog guys. His biggest weakness.

He didn't "definitely" force this pick.

This is what is known as a guess.

As is what you are saying there are "the plans" for him, but which are really your guesses.

Nothing wrong with having guesses. Nothing whatsoever. It's only a problem when you start to confuse guesses with facts.

I’m a realist. I just know he’s going to be useless. I guess I don’t get suckered into liking everything the team does. I really liked the first 2 picks then they really ruined a good couple picks with this.  So many other players that could have been taken that might actually amount to something more than a backup to the backup at LB and a punt and kick cover guy.

And again. You're not being a realist here. You in fact don't "just know he's going to be useless."

It's a guess.

I don't like the pick either so far. But I don't kid myself I know what's going to happen in the future.

I think there is a better chance that Spector is that guy who bulked up as he apparently spent the entire offseason at the facility. We will see how it shakes out. Maybe they truly think Dodson can step up.

I’m open to the pick .. the breakdown I heard of his instincts & playing style sound fantastic.

I just don’t understand it, at all, after Beane commented on his role.

And you can say “oh, well Beane and the FO surely know more than us”.. but the fans have generally been proven correct in their criticism when questioning some of these picks like Basham and (so far) Bernard.
