The Jerry Springer show was great in the period of time where it went from topics of interest and was transitioning into the absurd.  I'd say about 1997?  It was still kind of trying to be real and grounded.  Fights were real.  After a year or so, the show just turned into a caricature of itself and was unwatchable.  Maury took over as the most compelling guilty pleasure daytime television talk show.

He did some work for MTV on their Spring Break specials.  I remember seeing an interview with the three people in this segment that they made everything up to get on the show...

People are laughing, but Jerry Springer was actually the mayor of Cincinnati. Another interesting fact about him is that he was born in London during WW2 to Holocaust survivors.
