Also, the chart is more like a guideline, and not a rule. It hasn't been strictly followed for at least a decade. Costner actually screwed his team with all the moves. He traded three 2nd rounders for a RB and punt returner. Edited April 27, 2023 by unbillievable
Doc Brown
It was more upbeat than I anticipated. Before watching I read the plot outline of Browns navigating draft day and just figured it would be more of a tragedy like Schindler's List.

That was the only realistic part. There were so many laughable absurdities to the movie. -Drafted two non premium positions in the top 10. -Traded three first round picks the first day of the draft on a player they weren't 100% sold on when you already had a serviceable quarterback on the roster. Sorry 49ers fans. -They had at least nine months to do a background check on Bo Callahan and just happened to stumble that he had character concerns the final day. -Costner was supposed to be the protagonist savant GM who got the best of the Seahawks. All he did was allow them to move back to #7 and still get their QB meaning a smaller rookie wage salary as a #7 pick as opposed to the first overall. davefan66
Just watched it the other day. Kinda obvious who he was going to pick after he spilled the beans about Bo lying about the money in the playbook, and that his own QB returned it. It was a surprise what happened after he took Mack and getting his picks back. Not a bad touch. The number of draft picks involved in the trades was a bit absurd TBH. 3 firsts to get the first? And then that team gives them back to to move up one slot? Still a good movie though.

Hated everything about it including Costners stiff acting. “How did you do that?” “Because I was pissed”. Cinematic genius there🤮
Big Turk
It's a cool movie but not very realistic...they actually had a video with Chargers GM and WNY native Tom Telesco where they showed him a bunch of clips of the movie to get his opinion on it and how realistic it was. It was pretty hilarious...he said some parts were pretty realistic but he was flipping out about the draft board they had...every time they showed it he has to say something about it because there were hardly any players on it. 😂 Edited April 27, 2023 by Big Turk

C.Biscuit97
I enjoyed it for what it was if it’s a little corny. Wish it would have been the Bills. 39 minutes ago, Big Turk said: It's a cool movie but not very realistic...they actually had a video with Chargers GM and WNY native Tom Telesco where they showed him a bunch of clips of the movie to get his opinion on it and how realistic it was. Other than that the movie was like a cheese fondue served with cornbread.
SoMAn
Never heard of it, but after reading this I had to watch it. O.K., so it's not all that plausible and Costner is (and always has been) a one dimensional actor, but overall, it was decent enough entertainment for a Thursday morning at work. Let’s see: - He gave up a boatload of picks to trade for #1 overall not knowing who he was going to pick and not having finished his homework on the top rated QB in the draft. - Decided to take an off the ball linebacker with the 1st overall pick. - Talked another GM into a terrible trade to get back up high in the first round. - Then took a running back with that high first round pick. - And finally, everyone celebrated all of that. The only thing that made sense was that they had the Browns doing it all.
GunnerBill
It's watchable until the end for me. The Vontae Mack no matter what bit I like but the bit when he then screws the other GM around on the QB was a leap too far for me haha.
