Any Given Sunday is a far, far superior movie about pro football.

I use "life is a game of inches" with my team at work all the time. Basically you never know which small detail is going to be the one on which history turns. So take them all seriously, because life is a game of inches.

Draft Day is an amazing movie.  It's a lot like Zero Hour, in that it's almost impossible to watch certain scenes without laughing.  I know it presents itself as a drama, but there's no way the people who wrote this didn't understand that they were writing a very dry comedy.

Let’s see:

- He gave up a boatload of picks to trade for #1 overall not knowing  who he was going to pick and not having finished his homework on the top rated QB in the draft.

- Decided to take an off the ball linebacker with the 1st overall pick.

- Talked another GM into a terrible trade to get back up high in the first round.

- Then took a running back with that high first round pick.

- And finally, everyone celebrated all of that.

The only thing that made sense was that they had the Browns doing it all.

The thing is that we could just go and on with this stuff.

- He traded for the #1 overall pick without informing the owner.

- He was surprised that the owner of the team found out about the trade somehow.

- Everybody seems to be under the impression that trades are some big secret, as opposed to being splashed all over the internet.

- "I want my picks back.  All of them."  :lmao:

- The all-star QB has no friends, and nobody noticed that.

- Everybody assumes Cleveland (!) knows exactly what they're doing, so when they pass on Callahan, everybody else freaks and passes on him instead instead of just saying Thank You.

It's one laughably implausible plot point after another.  And they're all glorious.

I’m sorry, but how hard is it to get a trade chart value correct?   The trades were so stupid and unrealistic.  It ruined the whole movie for me.

Agreed, also ruined it for me.

It’s the movie that got my wife super interested in watching the draft every year…so there’s that.

and they have no picks in the first two rounds for like the next three years so if their athletically limited, try-hard quarterback doesn’t pan out, they can’t draft another one for four years.

My takeaway from the movie: Every time I see Russ Brandon's face I want to punch it.

Other than that the movie was like a cheese fondue served with cornbread.

Maybe you’re just cranky when it comes to draft related stuff? Take a deeeep breath and relax. 😋

I enjoyed it for what it was if it’s a little corny. Wish it would have been the Bills.

In his case, you get nfl jobs because you’re friends with the right people!

It actually WAS supposed to be about the Bills and they declined...so it became about the Browns...

Bills Russ Brandon and a couple of others still had a cameo appearance in there where he tries to play the hard ass and looks silly.

Honestly. I would have put it in right now. But I just noticed Tango and Cash is on and I haven’t seen this glorious movie in like like 20 years and I’m kinda into it.

CLASSIC!!

Cleveland cut the producers a better deal on taxes and expenditures than Buffalo. They were going hard after the movie filming niche at the time.

I really remember it differently when it happened. Oh well. Awesome job by NYS again. We keep winning. Doing all the things we can to ensure that people don’t want to be here.

My wife watches it with me every year.  She has no interest in the draft.  Very funny movie.  We love the look on Vonte's face when the pick is announced.
