Orlando Buffalo
I currently teach at what is likely the best school in all of Florida, my numbers state I am in the ballpark and my demographics don't usually mean best numbers. With that being said I have had to adjust my daughter's schedule for next year twice, not to ensure the best teacher but to avoid the few who suck. I will tell all parents to check out your kids teachers at all levels and make the stink before the begining of year if possible. You can not pick your kids teachers in the majority of cases but you can avoid the ones who indoctrinate vs teach. 1

B-Man
“EDUCATORS” SPREADING HATE-FILLED LIES: Teachers union head: ‘Conservatives don’t even want black children to be able to read.’ Stacy Gates, who sends her son to a private school, was responding to criticism of her union’s latest contract demands. It includes demands for illegal immigrants, abortions, and weight loss drugs. It will cost more than $50 billion. “Conservatives don’t even want black children to be able to read,” she said Sunday on WBBM, a local radio station. https://www.thecollegefix.com/teacher-union-head-conservatives-dont-even-want-black-children-to-be-able-to-read/ How people can spout nonsense like this is beyond me. .
Orlando Buffalo
I am actually curious if anyone from another state can explain this to me. Cornell has an average GPA of 4.1 of incoming freshman and Harvard is only a 4.2. University of Florida has 4.4-4.6, since Cornell and Harvard are clearly using a weighted GPA how is Florida currently higher? Is the availability of APs and other elite classes that much more available in Florida? A 5.0 in my school makes you barely top 10% but we offer so many college level classes you can graduate high school with an AA without too much difficulty scheduling it. More grade inflation in Florida? I mean, even more?

An AP class where a student scores a 4 or 5 is an A everywhere in the country and that is on a 6.0 scale. Most of my students have at least 4 AP level classes during there last two years of high school, my daughter will have one this year during her freshman year, three sophomore, and likely only AP core classes her last two years. All AP classes are standardized across the country.
