Daym is right.

Paul Hembekides on Twitter: "Aaron Rodgers went 80-10 with the Packers when they allowed fewer than 20 points. The Jets allowed 18.6 PPG last season." / Twitter

Sauce Gardner is a scary young man.  Under 200yds/game passing allowed by that D.  We need that 2nd weapon - you can't man-up 2 "uncoverable" WR's....(insert DHop here)

Well it was a nice season. I’m told the Bills season is already over now?

Not over but it's reasonable to think to think the Bills playoff run and Super Bowl aspirations have gotten significantly more difficult.

The AFC east is likely the toughest division in football, KC looks to be a dynasty team, Cinci with Burrow have surpassed the Bills, and others like LA, Jac, Balt, Pitt, etc are in the mix.

In short, maybe Bills fans should temper their expectations for this team.

I hope the media and everyone "tempers their expectations".  It was a loonnng and weird season last year to be sure, but I believe the Bills being anointed Champs all year didnt do us any favors.  That underdog mentality can bring out the in ya

Josh Allen always seems to struggle against the Jets defense.  They have taken us to the wire a couple times over the last 2-3 seasons, and last year we even lost to them with Zack Wilson as QB.

New York adding Aaron Rodgers is not a joke, regardless of the arrogant and overconfident responses in this thread.

Hope the Bills rediscover their A+ game this year.  Because they played at a B- most of 2022, and that simply isn't going to cut it.

A big reason is the Jets DL dominates the Bills crap OL. If we have a better OL and we can bring in Hopkins to go along with Diggs, then I think Josh will be fine going against the Jets D. Although I do expect two tough, physical games against them this season. I remember last year, and the Jets got fired up to play the Bills more than anyone else including the Pats/Fins since the Bills have been the top team in the division recently. Remember Saleh's "we will see them again" in the playoffs quote.

I think you answered your own questions here…

The Bills need to play like they did over the first part of the season last year…when they were beating the Chiefs at Arrowhead..

They struggled over the back half of the season …injuries were no doubt a factor, but also the coaching was below what it needed to be …JA needs to be a bit more patient and take what’s on offer rather than bombs away…

They need to concentrate on themselves… not be worrying about what the Jets are doing..

On the one hand, I don't think this is great for the Jets.   They, more-or-less, give up a second-round pick and a first-round pick for a guy who probably doesn't have very many good years left.  It's a high price for rental.

On the other hand, this isn't great for the Bills either.  Rodgers's good Jets years will overlap with the Josh Allen SB window.   Every win is important, and it just became significantly harder to beat the Jets on the gridiron.  It might become harder to beat them in the standings, too.

I suppose so. I think today's modern days athletes can drown out much of the outside noise.

Truthfully, I don't think the media hype or lack of had any effect of the Bills players. They are really trained and focused at playing one game at a time.

Boom!

A dose of reality even if it's not so rosey is appreciated.

so it's become clear that Rex's hear and soul was always with the Jets.

It would be like if one of us was HC of the Bills after a lifetime of working towards it, did the best we could, and after a handful of years got fired and immediately became the HC of the Patriots or Dolphins a few weeks later.

How many games do you think the Bills would have won last year with Zack Wilson and Mike White playing QB?  The Jets won 7, and I'm not convinced the Bills would have won that many.  Now they're adding Rodgers who, IMO, is in the same tier as Allen and Burrow in that they're capable of playing at an MVP level.

NY just drafted arguably more talent in last year's draft (Gardner, Wilson, Johnson, Hall) than Beane has since 2018.  I don't think it's a stretch to say they're on the same level as Buffalo.  If Miller and White don't return to their pre-injury level of play, the division is wide open.  Vegas still has Buffalo as the favorite, but they're only given about a 40% chance of winning the division.

That's a long winded way of saying that I think adding Rodgers makes them a credible threat in the AFC.

How many games would the Bills have won?   Irrelevant.  Granted, their HC Sean McDermott did guide a team to the playoffs with the worst point differential to do so in 35 years so the HC does have a history of getting more than the sum of his teams parts.......so maybe 9 or 10 wins wouldn't have been out of the realm of possibility.  But IMO........Allen and Rodgers are apples and oranges at this point in their careers.

And fwiw.......that's not how it actually works though.    Patrick Mahomes is worlds better than Alex Smith but the Chiefs didn't start going from 10-12 wins with Smith to undefeated every year because of the upgrade.    The improvement in regular season record was modest.

The Jets caught teams by surprise early last year.   That element is gone.    And they won just 7 games but that already counted a win against Buffalo.......boring the Bills into submission in a listless effort that would have been reminiscent of games the Chiefs played against the dregs of the AFC......Houston(OT win) and Indy(loss).....last year.    So it's not like the Jets even have 2 games to gain against the division favorite, do they? :flirt:

I'm sure you were quaking in your boots when the Broncos added the elite, seemingly still prime and dynamic Russell Wilson to a superior defense to KC and a host of young offensive weapons.   After all, the Broncos often play KC tough no matter what scrub is at QB.   And Russ had a significantly better year in 2021 than Rodgers did last year.

Did the Broncos improve by 5 games just because they added a veteran future HOF QB who had thrown 25 TD passes and just 6 INT the year before?    It couldn't have gone much different than expected.   I mean, yeah they did almost beat the Chiefs in Arrowhead late last year with an interim coach and a QB fiasco going on...........but somehow the young, elite QB'd team with the coach with the winning track record managed to prevail.

Go figure.

But I will note that you think Rodgers is in the equivalent of Allen and Burrow still.   At age 40, coming off a big performance drop, when he admittedly was 90% committed to retiring 2 months ago.  With a new team that has the longest playoff drought in the AFC.  And a buffoonish meathead at head coach.

No, only after the guaranteed money from the Bills' coaching gig ran out...😁

Rodgers quickly goes from best QB in the NFC to maybe the 6-7th best in the AFC. What a murderers row in this division. I still think Buffalo still takes the AFCE, but I have a feeling we will see the Jets in the playoffs.

Seriously, they're a clown car. I can't wait for that game.

They’re loaded with talent, a great defense and now Aaron Rodgers. Let’s not forget they beat us with Zac Wilson last season…A clown car they are not.
