Illinois has open primaries, which is great. You walk in and tell them which ballot you want. No extra bureaucracy.

I used to know some Democrats that registered as Republicans so they could try and mess up the opposition primaries… it’s all so silly

Not all states, in NH you can register for either party day of primary and then go right back to independent after you vote.  But you can only vote in one dem or republican.   I do this....
