It's so good to see Bill Maher going back to being Bill Maher.  He got smitten with a case of TDS and turned into a Donkey team back pocket boy for a few years there.  Nice to see him calling out ridiculousness by the Donkey team and the Elephant team once again.

In case you missed it,his last 2 "New Rules" have been stellar IMHO.

He never stopped calling out weak points on the left.   It's amazing that hating Trump to you means he'd changed.

As Chicago Crime Wave Soars, Police Advise Business Owners to Install Bulletproof Glass

Does the above headline read like a satire piece from The Babylon Bee? It should. As Chicago’s violent crime wave continues with no end in sight, the Chicago Police Department is actually advising business owners to install bulletproof glass to protect themselves. How reassuring — and insane.

But, it’s no parody; it’s true:

As reported by Fox Business, the Chicago Police Department (CPD) is advising business owners in Wicker Park, a neighborhood in the West Town community area of Chicago, and Humbolt Park — also on the city’s West Side — to install ArmorPlast, an “invisible shatterproof shield produced by a company called Riot Glass,” to protect themselves and their businesses from armed robbery, or worse.

Neither outgoing Mayor Lori Lightfoot nor incoming Mayor Brandon Johnson were available for comment.

Targeting them with violence interrupters, stronger wraparound services, mental health services, education, vocational training, and even jobs would do a lot to reduce the violence.

All of those interventions can be done before they pick up their first gun and without requiring additional police officers. And it would have a much greater impact on reducing crime than simply hiring more cops or being “tough on crime.”

AKA policemen. Arresting lawbreakers, setting high bail d long sentences will make the other things much cheaper and easier.

I don’t think that word means what you think it means.

Violence interrupters are essentially social service case workers. While some may have law enforcement background, that’s not what the job is. It’s to get involved in the lives of at-risk youths BEFORE they commit crimes to stop the pipeline of youth to criminals and allow law enforcement to focus on actual criminals.

“Tough on crime” policies do not solve crime.

The social work they can do is to keep black famiiies intact and to improve the education  system. The most important things to success in society are growing up In a two parent home and getting an eduction.

Maybe we should outlaw divorce. That should solve crime!

Yes.   I'm a huge Maher fan, watch most of whats out there.  He may not call out all of the left's weak points but he never stopped calling out stuff he disagrees with or thinks is problematic.

Young kids on the streets who see their best option for success or money is through gangs and crimes is a good starting point for actually preventing violence.

That's a lot of social workers.  What's the trigger?  Anti violence and anti poverty programs are positive.  We have had these programs for decades.  Many are just slush funds and jobs programs.

And 100 percent disagree with you about leniency for gun crimes?  And and  kinda laughing as your saying being soft on crime will stop this whole calling for laws to ban "violence".  In regards to mass shootings (that are also mostly gang related).

Never said to be soft on crime. Said that an approach centered around “tough on crime” and simply hiring more officers is doomed to fail if you don’t address the root causes.

Throwing a gangbanger in jail for the rest of his life is not going to deter the next gangbanger if he still sees the gang as the only way to make a living or keep his family safe.

You are arguing that the largest indicator of spending time is prison is not a single parent household? Even in the Netherlands it is true and the amount of data points showing it in America is astounding. I can tell you absolutely of my bottom 20 behaved students that at least 15 are in single parent households when 80% of my kids are in two parent households.

The root cause is below, as OT alluded to, is that 3 out of every 4 black babies is born to a single mother, and it's getting worse every year.  But you can't put that toothpaste back in the tube and is why BLM is against the nuclear family.

No one said banger or life.  Said charge the individual with the crime.  I do support higher penalties for crimes that involve guns or a victim.  Right now they don't even get charged if they didn't shoot it most of the time.

But I though you supported ways to stop mass shootings.

And on the point about parents.  Right now the social programs designed to be safety nets promotes single family households.  Two incomes on the books gets you out of the net .

Maybe something that doesn't make marriage or a two parent household financially un beneficial for the poor, working middle

What are you having trouble with?

“The root cause of crime is single parent black families and that’s why Black Lives Matter opposes two parent families”

Is that your argument?

Comprehension issues, maybe some coffee could help.

I'm saying the first first, and the 2nd is a matter of BLM realizing there's nothing they can do to reverse it so they have to normalize it.

Uh huh. Another poster on this board blaming black people. Do you also believe that it’s because black people are inherently more violent than white people? Or just inferior?
