balln Posted April 15, 2023 Posted April 15, 2023 Walter football , walt and charlie both had bills taking him at 27. Hes excellent value at 27. get 5 years out of him and no 2nd contract. Theres no one else worthy at 27 folks. Gibbs, Cook, and Damien Harris. Lets goooooooo 1 1 6 2 5 Quote
wppete Posted April 15, 2023 Posted April 15, 2023 Maybe trade back up a few spots in the 2nd round if he is still on the board, not at #27. 1 Quote
Warriorspikes51 Posted April 15, 2023 Posted April 15, 2023 lol let’s see whose on the board at 27 first. I really have no interest in him though. 2 1 Quote
DCbillsfan Posted April 15, 2023 Posted April 15, 2023 Wouldn't a starter at any other position, who is deserving of a 2nd contract, offer more value at 27 than Gibbs? 1 1 Quote

Aussie Joe Posted April 15, 2023 Posted April 15, 2023 “Draft experts” have to find a landing spot for RBs that they have a first round grade on in their mock drafts …and for some reason these last few years it’s always the Bills.. I would put the chances as below 5 percent they pick this guy at 27 1 Quote

As a fiscal matter, you are 100% correct. If for some reason, the Bills brain trust thinks Gibbs or another low value position player is the missing link to a Super Bowl for the 2023 season, it could be logical to not follow the logical fiscal decision. 2 Quote

If he ends up Alvin kamara or cmc - even tho it looks silly on paper now. You gotta pull the tirgger vs other positions that will end up like marginal players / Rousseau and Oliver and elam 1 1 Quote

If this is their 3 RBs that suit up each week then I think that’s sufficient to meet their run game commitments 2 1 Quote
stinky finger Posted April 15, 2023 Posted April 15, 2023 You know how I know I hate this draft? The RBs are beginning to look real good to me. 1 Quote
MJS Posted April 15, 2023 Posted April 15, 2023 I'll barf if we take a RB in round 1, especially if it isn't even the best RB. 1 Quote
fergie's ire Posted April 15, 2023 Posted April 15, 2023 The problem with drafting a running back and keeping him on a "cheap" rookie deal is that a first round salary is actually pretty expensive for a running back. Devin Lloyd was the 27th pick last year and signed for 3.2 million a year. This year, that pick will cost a bit more. That would mean that only 4 of this year's free agent RBs would have been more expensive. Only 2 (Sanders and Montgomery) at about 6 million are substantially more. So, for about the same price you could get a Perine, Mattison, or one of the Miami backs. Sure, maybe Gibbs will be great and much better than those backs, but many 1st round backs disappoint, too. At least with a free agent you have a better sense of what they can do. With what running backs make, and how the rookie scale works, I just don't think a 1st round RB selection makes sense. 3 1 Quote

It only makes sense if they’re really good. Bc it’s predictable they fall off precipitously from age 28,29,30. Quote

MrEpsYtown Posted April 15, 2023 Posted April 15, 2023 This is literally an exact replica of what happened last year. Clear massive hole at corner. Beane talks up Dane Jackson etc. All the mocks have us taking Breece Hall, we take a corner. Here we are again, with a better running back room from last year and being mocked a worse prospect than Hall. Beane is hiding his intentions, big time. 1 Quote

JDubya76 Posted April 15, 2023 Posted April 15, 2023 (edited) Love Gibbs, what round do we draft a QB that is willing to swing passes out to the flat to the RB and where do we hire the OC that utilizes a running back? Can’t see the Gibbs at 27 with all of our holes and the way we use the position. Edited April 15, 2023 by JDubya76 1 2 Quote
newcam2012 Posted April 15, 2023 Posted April 15, 2023 I will just my TV If the Bills draft Gibbs. Make no sense whatsoever if you are trying to win a Super Bowl in the next couple of years. Quote
DJB Posted April 15, 2023 Posted April 15, 2023 Similar player to a Cook and we just signed Harris If we go RB then it better be Robinson who profiles as a 3 down game breaking gold jacket type Otherwise it would be a bad decision in round 1 or 2 1 Quote
