plenzmd1 Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 Okay fellas, last step tonight to an entry into the WSOP. Got to beat 100 out of 105 to get there. Sarting in three minutes. This is the fourth step for me, not bad with an initial $33 dollar investment. Maybe yall will see me on ESPN if i get lucky tonight. And away we go!
brihs2005 Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 I lost plenty of money playing poker today... which means that there is luck out there, and at least you know it is not in my corner tonight... maybe it is in yours. Good Luck... let us know what happens.

Flop comes JJJ, dude checks, i check. Next card a 10, he bets 125, i raise to 200, he calls but doesnt raise. I figure him for some kind of ace- with anything.Next card comes another 10. So now we got a boat showing. He goes all in for 2500. YooHOO im thinking, Im doubling, and call. Ah, sorry hes got AJ, and my Vegas dreams are kaput. Fug em, didn't want to go anyways lol

eball Posted May 27, 2005 Posted May 27, 2005 I love the scene in Swingers where they sit down at the $100 table with a $300 stack, go double down on the first hand and lose. 346332 always double down on 11.

I'm not sure if they even get the obscure reference, but it's pretty funny when they lose every time. Am I a bad friend?
KD in CA Posted May 27, 2005 Posted May 27, 2005 always double down on 11. 346423 "Apparently you don't ALWAYS double down on 11!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

ajzepp Posted May 27, 2005 Posted May 27, 2005 I've been having a helluva run on Pacific. At first I thought it was just a good streak, but now I think I've turned the corner with my online game. I started with my usual $20, but I've been able to turn that into over $300 playing only 10-man sit downs. I ran my bank to about $150, cashed out $100 and played on house money until I hit $150 a second time. I did the same thing again and now I have it up around $80. I play either the $4, $5, or $10 sit downs. Once in a while I'll jump in a larger tourney and give it a go, but as of now I've made all my money on the ten man tourneys.

Didn't even bother to research variance and realize that you need 300 bets in your bankroll. So I started out with $100 on Paradise playing .25/.5, then moved up to .5/1 when I had $300, then 1/2 when I had $600, now I have $1400 and moving up to 2/4 soon. Poker is a lot more than just knowing what hands are good preflop and complaining about bad players sucking out. There are some good books and discussion forums out there, you just gotta find them. BTW - I've heard Antoine Winfield is a decent high stakes player up in the MN casinos; and not a bad guy either.

Online you are playing so many more hands than you would at a casino durring a session or in a home game. More hands=seeing more variables.

It would almost seem that the opposite would be true.
stevestojan Posted May 28, 2005 Posted May 28, 2005 Another problem with online is being able to quite openly cheat. Last night, my friends told me that the two of them join the same table online and then AOL Instant message the cards that they have to each other.

When I was in Korea, we wouldn't let the Korean guys talk during a card game. They had to speak English to play.
