Went from just the usual local drag shows at gay bars or whatever where nobody bothered them. now everywhere so no wonder you have them getting push back. Leave them out of the schools and there are no issues what is the harm in that? Why do they need to be in schools? If you don’t want a drag show in your kid’s school, get involved and talk to the administrator. The problem here is with the government criminalizing it instead.

You realize you cannot disagree with them in any way without getting called transphobic?

Most of the stories I’ve found have been schools employees being suspended or fired for allowing drag shows, not opposing them

Claiming that people are being fired for opposing drag and citing an article that does not show people being fired for opposing drag and then claiming victory is the level of intellectual rigor I’ve come to expect from this place. 1

Of course no, next question. Certain books have always, always not been available in grade school libraries. This isn't something new. 10 yrs ago we relied on common sense to make that determination. It's a shame that we need laws today.

Laws telling us what books we can’t read. Surely you wouldn’t be opposed to California outlawing books that don’t conform to the most pinko commie worldview then?

People should have the freedom to read what they want. School libraries should be curated by librarians with input from the administration and parents. The government shouldn’t be able to criminalize books. Nobody should risk being indicted for a crime over a difference on opinion on the appropriateness of a book. Good faith discussions with community input will still have contention and disagreement, but that’s fine and to be expected. It’s the role people are asking the government to play that is a problem.

Yeah, we have child endangerment laws and decency laws. If the things the right is complaining about are as bad as they are saying, they should charge people under those laws.

Public schools are the government. Parent's elect their representatives, both legislative and school board. Good faith discussions are a part of the democratic process and people are electing their representatives based on those discussions (campaigns). It sounds to me the process is occurring just as you describe, and you just don't like the result. School employees have never had the final say. public input has always existed. There have always been boundaries. Over the past decade, our govt employees at schools have pushed the envelope. Citizens have reacted to that. And here you are reacting to that reaction. Democracy is working. Edited April 9, 2023 by Pokebball 1

Actions and reactions, and reactions to those reactions. You just don't like what ELECTED representatives decide. Sorry, that's how it's worked for like, ever.

Not one. the government is involved because when it comes to money people will do anything for it. Including carving up kids who can’t consent to sex let alone have their genitals cut off. Both are wrong
