Blank Stare Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 Love it. Great depth signing with two aging starting safeties that were banged up a lot last year. 1 3 Quote
Johnny3410 Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 Rapp is an urgent safety with positional versatility and on-the-ball production. He should draw interest from clubs that can deploy him in multiple sub-package roles. Rapp can play in the post or split-field, or he can align as an overhang defender in dime. There's disruptive ability here. He produced nine interceptions and 24 pass breakups in his four seasons with the Rams. 1 Quote
SCBills Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 Have to wonder if Rapp saw the Safety market is a disaster this year, sees what the Bills did with Poyer, and decided to see if he can earn a multi-year contract here for the future by joining the Bills for a year. At least, that's my thought process. Rapp seemed like an ok starter option in free agency. 5 Quote

They're in cap hell and in way over their heads from a personnel perspective. He Wasn't Cut. He was a FA. He played 4 seasons with the Rams, and they didn't re-sign him, or, he didn't like the contract they offered or didn't want to stay on a re-building team. Edited March 27, 2023 by Beck Water 3 Quote

Warriorspikes51 Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 good depth if Poyer or Hyde miss games. Also think McDermott could use some 3 safety looks and move Poyer into the box 1 Quote

Buffalo_Stampede Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 Wonder if the Bills are planning on using him in sub packages. Milano and 3 safeties 3 CBs on the back end. 1 Quote
BuffaloRebound Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 Doubt he came here to be a backup who doesn’t see the field. Quote
The Jokeman Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 (edited) Last year exposed our Safety depth was questionable at best. Also no guarantee Damar returns this year. To me this a good add. Edited March 27, 2023 by The Jokeman 7 4 Quote
Buffalo_Stampede Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 This could set up re-signing AJ Klein for early down work and go with 3 safeties and 3 CBs on passing downs. 3 1 1 Quote

Sometimes it works other times it doesn't. How he played in a different scheme doesn't mean much as we don't know what they asked him to do. It only matters how he fits and plays in our scheme, not anyone else's. We will find that out soon enough. Edited March 27, 2023 by Big Turk 3 1 Quote
hellofellowbillsfans Posted March 27, 2023 Author Posted March 27, 2023 this should hold us all over until Hopkins gets traded here! in all seriousness, i bet he's going to be re-signed to a multi-year deal after next year to be the long term starting safety Quote

Players develop. Change of scenery and scheme could help. Just sayin. Ya they probably see him as a scheme fit. Replacing Jaquan Johnson. With Hyde n Poyer being banged up last year, Hamlin being a question mark, why not get that depth. 3 1 Quote
