Keeping a very good starter for under 5 million a year, on a team with extremely little depth at running back, and no proven starters, was a no brainer to me. And anyone who has watched the Bills closely over the last few years would never say that the running game is not that important any more. It’s not a ridiculous cliche, it’s 100% accurate. You shouldn’t pay big money to RBs, and they aren’t valued how they used to be. That doesn’t mean Buffalo shouldn’t have kept Motor, as those are two different things.

James Cook is a 2nd round draft pick and the starter for the Buffalo Bills. He will take 65% of the snaps just like Devin did last year. 4
OZBILLS
Damn, who is going to be his "stop moving your legs before contact, 1 yard loss" replacement? Happy with this, but watch him turn into Barry Sanders now 1

Happy with this, but watch him turn into Barry Sanders now That’s going to be hard to do. He doesn’t have the quarterback that everybody is accounting for. Best of luck to them though, and it’s Texas taxes and all that

He was scheduled to make $4.5M this season. It’s also why Beane pointed out unprompted how he thought he had given this Coaching Staff a weapon, only to turn around and see he got the ball 11 times total on offense after the trade. hines is a weapon. This staff has trouble getting rookies and new to the team people involved. Dorsey seems to have trouble getting players involved in anything other than basic routes. Josh seemed to have trouble hitting the short stuff as well.

Maine-iac
Motor took so many badly blocked plays and turned them into gains or got back to the line of scrimmage when it looked like he was going down 4 yards in the backfield. If McCoy lost a gear but was still as shifty and actually knew when to put his head down and pick up some yards you'd have Motor. He was a great player with a great attitude. Kept Allen upright on many plays. Hoping Cook can do a Kamara (on the field) impersonation this season.
hemma
Solid underappreciated RB. congrats Devon. You are maxing out your capabilities and dammed few people in any walk of life can say that. 6
BillsFanForever19
Either Beane really wanted to go in another direction or Motor really wanted out of Buffalo. I was pretty convinced Beane was playing the waiting game with Singletary and was going to bring him back on a team friendly deal. But if he signed elsewhere for that, that means someone wasn't interested in a return.

He had the special play were he goes one way and everyone goes the other. Guaranteed for a 10 yard loss everytime. Its playing for better punting position call. 1
SydneyBillsFan
This is a sad day IMO. He gave us four years of maximum effort and reasonably good production along with a real team-first attitude. You might even say very good production behind a below average run blocking line. Good luck Motor - you will be missed! 5

Scott7975
Motor was a solid rb and under appreciated by a lot of people. For this amount they might as well have kept him unless they are going to try and pickup an elite back like Henry. Motor is just as good or better than all the regular dime a dozen backs. 1
