BullBuchanan Posted March 16, 2023 Posted March 16, 2023 I thought Hamlin played well as a backup safety. he was a hard hitter who was aggressive to the ball. He had problems in coverage and took some poor angles, but lots of players did. He may never be a Pro Bowl caliber player, injury aside, but I'm cool keeping him as a #3 if he can return to form. We do need to draft a replacement for Johnson though. That dude is awful. 4 1 Quote
Beast Posted March 16, 2023 Posted March 16, 2023 If he’s cleared medically and wants to play there is no reason he shouldn’t take the field. 1 Quote

I've been expecting him back. That soccer player came back and had a career. This was such a random fluke that will likely never happen again to another player in our lifetime. A 24 year old athlete should be able to come back. Now we have TOO MANY Safeties! You two are speculating. Unless there is some new evidence I'm not aware of, they never released the cause for his incident. In fact, when asked directly in his interview with Strahan he declined to answer. There's zero way for anyone to know if he is or isn't a risk moving forward not knowing the cause of his condition. Edited March 16, 2023 by ArtVandalay 1 1 Quote

papazoid Posted March 16, 2023 Posted March 16, 2023 i say not happening "intention" is one thing.......i listened to damar's interview with michael strahan......i came away saying he will never play again......he will stick with the bills/nfl while recovering......but after a year or even two.....he will retire......but hey, anythings possible. he still hasnt ruled out any and all pre-existing conditions that would make a return to risky...... 1 Quote

In coverage he is lost. 1 Quote

If I could I'd be making lots of money as a GM. Free agents bust as well. There's risk either way. Quote

Augie Posted March 17, 2023 Posted March 17, 2023 I don’t care WHERE he comes back, but if he’s cleared and he wants to do it, I hope it works out for him. Seeing that as it happened was one of those “you’ll always remember the moment” things. 1 Quote
Rico Posted March 17, 2023 Posted March 17, 2023 I feel terrible for him and wish him nothing but the best now & in the future, but there's just too much bad mojo left over from last year. No. 1 1 1 Quote

No. Bad mojo? What are we doing here of course we want him to come back. First of all we know as a 2nd year player he was at worst a good backup to Hyde - he was ok - safeties take some time - See Poyer and Hyde as proof. Second, his presence means something bigger now. “That’s the guy that died on the field out here battling with us.” I mean if people don’t get this I don’t know. So long as Hamlin is a class dude (and by every indication he is) he’s the farthest thing from bad mojo or anything like that. If he was constantly making things about “me” that’s different you better be elite if you’re like that. But he seems like the guy you want on your team - the death on the field experience elevates him and that should only enhance this team’s chemistry. And they’re going to need it because they’re going to be seriously challenged this season. Edited March 17, 2023 by Big Blitz 4 1 Quote

He’s still early in career. Hyde and Poyer, in year 2, were nothing like they are now. 1 Quote
