Improve OL, and skill on O, get younger on D and adjust philosophy on D to become ire aggressive. As long as we can keep Allen upright we are never out of contention. Yup, I call it a mini rebuild year 👍 Quote

I have not advocated spending another dime on defense. I've even come around on dealing Ed Oliver for picks and cap space. It's a Roquan Smith type move that Chicago executed brilliantly. Do you want an over the hill Hopkins, or flaky injury prone OBJ to suck up any remaining cap space? No other teams are beating down the doors for their services. Maybe we can pick up did nothing Jerry Jeudy, but hey we was a high draft pick Let's blow our load on Travis Henry. Maybe we can add a third light pass receiving RB in Ekeler with Cook and Hines. This is a re-tool year. The cap is not unlimited. Buffalo made some roster building mistakes in the 5 year window. This is the reality of the situation. A guy like Berrios could help today and leave room without having to depend on a rookie. I don’t agree that Hopkins is over the hill. And I have to wonder how the Bills view this. They’re really satisfied with Gabe Davis taking his sweet time getting better while Diggs’ is in the later years of his prime? Quote

I thought Richie James was still under contract, but he is a UFA. Good call. Sign James or Berrios for insurance at the slot. Cut McKenzie for cap room. Cook and Hines should take the gadget role. Trade Ed Oliver. Get a pick and $10m in cap relief, rather than let him walk next year for nothing. Extend D Jones. Now you have a slot plan. Settle becomes the starting 3T Add a 2-4th for Ed. Pick another 300+ space eater DT in the draft. if this team insists on playing nickel, better to have two monster space eaters at DT. Have some cap room to work with this year or next. If that space helps bring in Jamal Williams good. If that cap space extends D Jones/ T Johnson good. Quote

Cumulatively, they saved $32mil in cap. I believe that is what I read. But I’m posting this from my phone, in a sushi restaurant in downtown LA, and I’m on my second large hot saki. So I could be remembering this wrong… 😒Jealous emoji?....and I'm looking forward to corn beef and cabbage at the local dive on Friday. BTW Sushi is Bass bait. Edited March 14, 2023 by nosejob Quote

Yes, I’d much rather spend the money we have left of Hopkins or OBJ (not at 20M) .. or trade for Jerry Jeudy, who oozes potential and has never played with a guy like Josh Allen. God forbid we take a swing for our franchise QB… This is a weak WR FA crop. You don't overspend on a weak crop to 'get a guy'. Quote
78thealltimegreat Posted March 14, 2023 Posted March 14, 2023 Beane should announce we aren’t making any major moves so I can go on to watch the NCAA tournament on Thursday since it’s obvious he’s now playing the comp pick game. It’s an incredibly boring strategy but it would allow people to stop from checking their phones every 5 minutes and get on with their lives…which is checking their phones every 6 minutes 1 Quote

So was Knox for a stretch of the season IMO. Cook and Hines were underutilized. The Charger offense goes through Ekeler. Buffalo brought in an improvement at OG. There are mid-level guys who could help improve the slot over Crowder and Mckenzie. Outside WR is not strong this year. Quote

Whatever happens, happens. We most likely aren’t getting any of the players TBD wants. If we have 15 million, that leaves 5 million for the draft class and 3-5 million for day to day season cap. Not much left over for signing free agents. Especially with the holes we have at WR, safety and LB. Won’t see restructures unless BBB knows he is going to land a guy, or two. He said it himself, don’t expect a lot in FA this off-season. 1 Quote

Success Posted March 14, 2023 Posted March 14, 2023 The Jets are gonna be a tough out. The AFC East in general is probably in the running for toughest division. For once, it's the Patriots who are on the outside looking in. But that won't make it any easier for the Bills. If we take the division title this year, it will be well-earned. I think we're still the favorites, but it will come down to some close games w/ both the Jets and Phins. 2 Quote

So blowing cap room on all the over the hill/ injured WRs in this thread makes no sense. How nice would it have been if Buffalo had some cap space when McCaffrey became available? How nice would it have been if Buffalo had cap space when AJ Brown or Davante Adams became available around the draft? How about cleaning up space and making a move for Renfrow, or Thielen? I'd rather have JuJu SS than Hopkins or OBJ at this point in their careers. Quote

I do think they would have re-signed Edmunds if the Bears didn’t back up the the Brinks truck. Makes one think there was access to, say, 8M on a backloaded contract. So far we’ve done some housekeeping and took on a 4M cap hit for McGovern. Quote
