Josh is our short yardage TD machine

I agree but don’t some people want him running less?

I mean I could look that up. Or you could

All things equal, would you rather pay a RB $5M-$10M a year or 400k-600k a year?

Gimme Isiah Pacheco the Chiefs 7th rd RB who just helped them win a Super Bowl.  But if they keep running Allen on short yardage, they need a guy for short yardage and down inside the red zone.  It's a major issue on offense.

It’s just incredibly underwhelming to me. What if Bijan is there? What about Zach Charbonnet in the 2nd? Or Kendre Miller in the 3rd? Shoot I’d rather we keep Singletary over this guy, it’s maddening.

Can you guarantee Bijan is there when the Bills pick?  Or any of the other players you mentioned?   All those players are very good.   They all could go before the Bills have a chance at them.

Maybe Beane sees Williams as a good player who provides an element they need, at a price point that leaves him with enough resources to grab good players at other positions of need.     These moves aren’t made in a vacuum.

For whatever reason he was a TD machine. Why not.

Ben Johnson the OC was brilliant with his schemes and play calling. It won't be long that he will be a head coach.

Just draft a young cheap running back later in the draft in a stacked class please. Williams is not that good, Dan Campbell just committed a lot of plays to him last year, especially around the goal line.

I have no interest in looking it up. I know it’s a good percentage of his TDs and besides the TDs he really wasn’t that good.

It’s interesting that with how buttoned up we clearly are, the only two rumored guys we are “interested” in are Henry and Williams.

I haven't seen it reported that the Bills were interested in Derrick Henry.   Just a "here's a cool idea" suggestion by a sports writer.   Like the one in TBN about how the Bills should trade Elam and a 2nd rounder for Jalen Ramsey.    They WERE at OBJ's workout and have been linked to him consistently though.

I do wonder if they signed a RB like Williams if they’d release Hynes? He clearly wouldn’t be viewed at the #2.

Probably not.  Although they play the same position,  they don't fill the same role.

I assume they're going to try to rework Hines' contract regardless of whatever else they do at RB.

Could just be conjecture out of thin air, but ESPN guys (albeit the Bart Scott squad) mentioned the Bills being interested in Henry.

Same panel also thought Crowder was under contract next year though, so.. not hugely confident in ESPN’s non-Schefter reliability anymore.

Sorry, if you don't think Jamaal Williams would be a good signing, then I don't know that you have watched him or the Lions play.

Jamaal isn't just running through gaping holes by the Lions offense, he is running with power and finding slivers to get through and finding his own holes.  He is getting stuffed and then bouncing it outside for the score.  He is ripping off big runs in other parts of the field.

He had a 4.1 YPC despite being a short yardage and redzone specialist with Swift there, and there were times where Jamaal ran more as the number 1 back over Swift.

This guy is a smart, passionate, and fiery football player who can find creases that most guys wont despite being a big powerful back.  Then of course he brings that power, but its an explosive power, he has very good acceleration and burst.  And he is a very good receiver out of the backfield too.

For those saying "But Bijan"...well you need to move on.  There is not much of a chance Bijan is getting to us at 27, he might even go top 10.  But ever if by some miracle Bijan slipped to us, they could still draft him.  Signing Jamaal doesn't mean they can't draft Bijan if he unexpectedly falls to us.

How many Redzone trips did we not score a TD on last year?  How many short yardage plays did we see kill drives?  And you don't want a guy who was maybe the best in the NFL in those areas last year and has been most his career?  Not to mention, he is a great pairing with Cook where they can play a lot like Ingram and Kamar did in NO for so long.

Only...?

Considering the number of 1 yard TD runs and 3rd and shorts that's pretty incredible

and Derrick Henry, whom several people here would apparently give up their left gonad for, averaged 4.4.

Henry also only averaged 4.3 last year, not a huge difference.

Jamaal plays a lot like Henry, a big powerful guy with great burst and acceleration.  Henry has a little more top end speed, but Jamaal has more agility in tight spaces.  And he will be a lot cheaper and has a lot less wear and tear.  He also won't command 20-25 touches a game like Henry will.

Plus, Jamaal brings a fire and energy few players in the NFL bring.

All true. And which one costs a lot less?
