Yikes! These salaries are out of control. A second/third tier WR gets $7.5M per season? Sheesh (That’s $500,000 per game!) What are we paying Gabe?

Texicans had to pay a premium for him. Bobby took the money. Nothing wrong with him taking one last big payday.

Was Woods a member of the Rams team that won the Super Bowl?  If so, he has his ring, so going for the final payday was the right move.  He's on the wrong side of 30 at a skill position, so the odds are not in his favor for having a long career ahead of him.  Do the best you can for you and your family at this point.

Yes, he got a ring. Was integral part of that SB season before getting hurt. I believe OBJ was signed because Woods was done for the year.

Think that Championship holds more weight for him. “Home town pro football team”, in his home state… home county in fact. So you got it right on the head, payday was the right move.

The Bills actually still overpay for average free agents........Daquan Jones is a steady $4M aav snap-sharing block absorber and they gave him about $7.5 aav for some reason........and the $6M for Rodger Saffold deal made no sense at all.   The "Buffalo as a destination" value-acquisition-thing hasn't really materialized as promised.   They keep some of their own on good deals and do actually get some cheap prove-it and ring chasing low end deals like Crowder and Quessenberry that they would have never gotten when they sucked though.

DaQuan was our best DL last year. By a wide margin. Had great pass rush win rate and wreaked havoc that others cleaned up on passing downs many times.

Daniel Jones got $40 million for 15 tds passes. Also, football is a billionaire business. Who do what getting the money? Owners?

Granted the Titans have a butt cheek passing attack but he looked really slow last year. Good for Woods though. I wonder what the betting line would have been for woods having a better career than Watkins. Wild.

The league overpays in free agency not just the bills.

Reunion would have been cute but we got our slot guy on a rookie deal.

Shakir is going to have a breakout sophomore year.

Heard that last year with Mackenzie. Shakir showed some growth but I'll believe it when our slot can regularly get separation and give Josh a reliable option.

Between his age, his down season and not looking fully recovered from his injury he gets to go to a place where he has a good chance to be among the top of the depth chart and make some hay as a starter in Houston. kind of like Jerry Hughes did last year.

No, Von Miller was their best DL he was on like a 14 sack pace.........followed by Gregory Rousseau who improved on a rookie season where he lead all NFL DL in run stops.

Oliver was better than Jones when healthy,  which unfortunately wasn't much of the season.

Jones was exactly the same guy he has always been........you just hadn't followed his career.   And when he hit UFA in 2021 he got $4M.   That's the going rate for 30 year old run pluggers.    The only difference was that last year he was playing opposite a high octane offense and getting more pass rush reps.   Everything else was same ol' Daquan.

Coming off the the complete fiasco of spending $40M plus for 3 seasons of Star Lotulelei,  Beane was in desperation mode to find a DT1T and overpaid again.

It's expensive given Woods play last season but if he returns to form they either get a good player for a couple seasons or a mid-season trade chip at a position that is bringing real value back in return.

Injuries happen, he has looked good when healthy, a borderline #1 but top flight #2, I think they got a relative bargain for the risk of seeing if he’s back to form.

It was either Marino or Cover1, they did a breakdown of our DL before and after Von’s injury by all kinds of metrics .. and Oliver wasn’t good.. at all.

Von, Rousseau and (to a lesser extent) Epenesa were the only ones who showed up.

I guess your statement is qualified for Ed by saying “when healthy”… I don’t know… guy seems needs to be fully healthy and have top talent around him to be effective.

Yep, needs a perfect scenario to show up, the exact type of player you don’t pay.
