i think there are many we going to miss in next 5 years

With this group, the only guys I would truly miss are Josh and Diggs.

Sure we have good players beyond that, but they are all replaceable, even Milano, whom I love.

Pretty much agree.

The only guys who truly affect Championship aspirations, on an individual level, are QB, WR and Pass Rusher.

A collectively bad secondary… A collectively bad offensive line...  Those things can affect aspirations, but not on an individual level.  You can hide a weak link, you can scheme to strengths.

I remember watching him earlier in his career in GB and thinking “man, this guy just makes plays”.  So glad we signed him and he’s definitely proven that wasn’t a fluke.

One of my all time favorite players to watch. I was pumped when we signed him. Felt the same about Beasley, just guys that make plays

Bills had inside information for they signed a coach who had been with Browns previous year and could see what Poyer was capable of.

Sometimes inside information was wrong as when Bills signed Zay Jones' WR coach from college and he said he was the most prepared for NFL WR he has seen.

Zay has found a home in the NFL and is an important part of the Jags

As for Zay Jones, he is doing pretty well now. Just took him awhile. But it goes to show that no draft pick is a 100% certainty. Doesn't matter what information you think you had.

I think the Zay Jones issue was that his coach wasn’t an NFL level coach and didn’t know what he didn’t know

IIRC he hasn’t been back in the NFL since.

Zay came into the league soft and immature, in my opinion. He had to grow up and mature, and also learn how to play with an edge.

No argument on those points.

My point was with the value of the coach’s recommendation of him as “most NFL ready receiver”.  I don’t think that particular coach had a basis to tell

I agree on Hyde.  Very intelligent and well spoken and unlike some ex-athletes who work in broadcasting does not sound like he is speaking with marbles in his mouth.

He was my top free agent (a fan of Packers) and was advocating him being signed before free agency opened.

Packers knew what that had with him but not what he could become.

Shannon Sharpe!

No it shows how bottom of barrel Coach McD went to select some coaches, especially on offense.

I said at time it was mistake to sign him seeing coaching in Mijami.

Philip P. McGeoghan coaching record:

  • Maine (2007) - Wide receivers coach & tight ends coach
  • Navy Prep (2008) - Offensive coordinator
  • South Florida (2009–2011) - Wide receivers coach
  • Miami Dolphins (2012–2014) - Assistant wide receivers coach
  • Miami Dolphins (2015) - Wide receivers coach
  • East Carolina (2016) - Wide receivers coach
  • Buffalo Bills (2017) - Wide receivers coach
  • Los Angeles Chargers (2018–2020) - Wide receivers coach
  • Colorado (2022) - Wide receivers coach

Sanjay Lal on other hand has been in demand ever since he was a NFL coach.

Kind of surprised to see Poyer with the slight career stats advantage, given the difference in their pre-Bills circumstances. Hyde has more playoff success, but again he saw playoff action pre-Bills as a Packer. Such a luxury to have had them paired together since 2017, minus most of last season. A rare confluence of talent and coaching/scheme in the defensive backfield; the departures of Frazier and Poyer will mark the end of an era.

Good to see a team leader openly say he loves it here:

1) On Buffalonians "Bills Mafia, everyone in Buffalo is truly amazing."
2) On McD handing the Hamlin in-game situation: "Sean... I have never seen a leader perform like that."
3) On the organization: "It really feels like a family."

Nice, after recent distractions, to see a guy come straight out and be unequivocal about wanting to be here. I wish ever team leader was like this.
