Hundreds of thousands of United States citizens have been killed directly (like what took place this past week in Tamaulipas) or indirectly (overdoses). Mexico clearly has no control over the cartel issues that plague that country and when will enough be enough? It's like we have Syria on our Southern border.

We practically went to war with Afghanistan over Al-Qaeda and Taliban because of 2,000+ being killed in NYC on 9/11... yet we have 100,000+ killed from drugs coming in from Mexico and we don't even bother really securing our border.

When?  Under Dems, who don't care if the border is open and drugs and thugs are crossing unfettered?

I don't have the answer of when. I know Biden and his puppet masters won't do anything about it.

Just saying, should we? It would be a struggle, maybe more so than Afghanistan was, but how long do we allow this to devastate our country???

Even a larger question, Mexico is the leader in creating the illegal drug supply which is destroying society. Leading cause of crime, homelessness, health costs, need for social charities and misery.

I vote for all out assault on drug cartels, they kill more than 9-11.

Not a mission for US military.

The US military is not constructed to handle this type of thing.

There are other options, but most wouldn't be possible without Mexican gov approval and leadership/participation.

If Mexican authorities invite us to help with military operations, sure. Otherwise, it's the plot of Clear and Present Danger all over.

The problem is there are no authorities to deal with in Mexico.  Invade the place and set up a 25 mile DMZ.  Maybe use our military to actually defend our sovereignty instead of everyone else's for a change.  Who's on board with the idea among the war supporters and lovers of democracy elsewhere?  I'm sure the local law abiding Mexican population would welcome us.

Invading another sovereign nation is not acceptable. They need to ask for our help first.

What?  We do it all the time.  Such as Syria.  US forces are occupying parts of the country and I know for sure they didn't ask for "help".

They would be out of biz if not for insatiable demand.  Perhaps we should work on the causes...

Do you and @ArdmoreRyno understand how cartels move drugs into this country?  Where did you read immigrants bring in drugs.

No one said it's (just) immigrants bringing in drugs.

It’s not immigrants. Immigrants trying to cross the border w their kids aren’t smuggling drugs.  Has nothing to do with it.  Doesn’t mean immigration isn’t an issue. But to combine the two is dishonest media manipulation.

Cause is availability and pressure.

No one would abuse Ozempic without availability and advertising pressure.

Eliminate source and 90% of future cases are eliminated.

Long past time, tbh. Reagan should have sacked up when Kiki Camarena was tortured and killed. Would have headed off a lot of the problems we face now.

I wish you were right.  My understanding is that it's not that difficult to synthesize fentanyl.  Someone else would take over.  And if not, they'd find another high.  idiots make meth in their garages.

Remove social supports, clean needle programs etc, condemn the use and second chance judges and the future problem is reduced. 25 years for selling, life for production and add real import controls.

Society is rotting from Mexican cartel activities. Don Corleone was right.

They're using immigrants to overwhelm the border and distract from their drug running.  But some immigrants absolutely are bringing drugs across with them.  How do you think these people are getting to and across the border when they're so poor?

And no, this isn't an anti-immigration stance, just anti-illegal immigration.
