He was too smart for the Phin line up. Seriously he signs a vet minimum contract comes to camp and competes. If he sucks and McNally can't do anything with him , see ya. If he responds he beats out Lawrence Smith who hasn't done anything to impress yet . Could be camp fodder could be a solid back up, I have no clue and in May it doesn't much matter.

Name: Greg Jerman

Position: Offensive Guard

Grade: 67 | Key

Alert: None

Comment:

Jerman has shown steady improvement since entering the league and he is expected to compete for a starting job this year. Jerman is a much better fit at guard but he has enough versatility to line up at tackle as well. Plays with a mean streak and is physical at the point of attack. Possesses good size, has the lower body strength to drive defenders off the ball and rarely loses a battle once locked on. As a pass blocker, shows adequate initial quickness and rarely allows defenders to shoot the inside gap. Possesses excellent work ethic and should only continue to get better with age. However, Jerman's potential is limited by his lack of athletic ability and his technique is somewhat inconsistent.. Doesn't show great awareness and has problems adjusting to the blitz as well as line stunts. Jerman isn't fundamentally sound, he will need to be protected when the Dolphins drop back to pass and he offers little as a downfield blocker. Ideally, Taylor Whitley bounces back from a disappointing rookie season and wins the starting right guard job. This would allow Jerman stay in a backup role where he can provide quality depth and continue to work on technique.

for what its worth, sounds like his negatives are mostly technique related, which mcnally may be able to do something about...

I hadn't heard that. Hmmm.

That's correct. But that was really why Gandy was signed to fill the role of Price.

We still do not have a LT, and as the days go on I see teague moving out there, and that scares me. When he was the LT in Denver he sucked.

Meh, I just hope we didn't spend much on him.

Bennie Anderson

Chris Villarial

Ross Tucker

Lawrence Smith

Ben Sobieski

Justin Geisinger

Justin Bannan

Plus all the other fodder Guards we have. Now we signed Greg Jerman. How many do we need?!

IMO, Smith and Sobieski have shown all they have and are gone. Bannan was shifted back to DT and is out of the mix. That leaves one open spot behind Anderson, Villarial, Tucker and Geisinger.

I agree. Bingo.

Let him compete and who says he (or all the other guards) make it to St. John Fischer? I think we could add a Tackle after June 1 and then release a guard if necessary.
