KingBoots8 Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 I figured a centralized place for the combine news would probably be a good idea as we start seeing player evaluations begin. Here is a breakdown of the Combine schedule for the remainder of this week: March 2 (3 p.m. to 8 p.m. ET): DL, LB March 3 (3 p.m. to 8 p.m. ET): DB, PK/ST March 4 (1 p.m. to 8 p.m. ET): QB, WR, TE March 5 (1 p.m. to 7 p.m. ET): OL, RB The combine takes place at its usual stomping grounds of Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, and it should hopefully be an exciting week of coverage. Prepare for your early mock drafts to be blown to bits, and may all our picks be future HOF’ers. 3 1 6 Quote
H2o Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 I hope they continue to do all of this on a yearly basis. I know some of the coaches have come out to say they aren't attending, or they don't pay any attention to the workouts. In the end, yes, the tape matters more than the underwear Olympics. Still, to see how some of these guys test athletically does make a difference when looking at the RAS. I like to see the agility scores for RB's, WR's, and TE's as well as the 40's. I like seeing how the lineman on both sides of the ball do on the bench and in agility drills. Some of the workouts the DE's do show you the type of bend and explosion they have. I think that quite a bit of the info is useful, and combined with the tape makes a difference for many of these guys. Especially when you get to late day 2 and day 3 of the draft. 1 2 Quote

The problem with scouting is these players don't play in bubbles so someone could test with the exact same numbers and not have the same production. Is it coaching? Individual work ethic? Intelligence? Nobody has mastered the secret formula that can make a great player as there are so many variables. All we can hope is that our GM and coaching can unearth a player with whatever "it" is and maximize his talents. Quote

It's still a crapshoot, but all of these factors at least help one to form their own perspectives. 1 Quote

17islongenough Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 They need to pick a random fan to compete at the combine for a comparison 1 1 Quote
schoolhouserock Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 Really looking forward to seeing how the WRs and TEs test. 1 Quote

It getting hammered and making connections. i e it the combine but it is the most overrated thing in all of sports. If you put much stock in it, you are not too bright. 1 Quote
Big Turk Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 (edited) Didn't see one here, so I thought I would start one to talk about the results from the combine all in one thread... Today was DL's testing and DT Calijah Kancey from PITT...posted an INSANE 4.67 40 time, the fastest since 2003 for any interior lineman... https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/draft/2023/03/02/nfl-draft-combine-results-news-times-measurements-40-yard-dash/11381793002/ Edited March 2, 2023 by Big Turk 1 Quote

KingBoots8 Posted March 2, 2023 Author Posted March 2, 2023 https://www.nfl.com/combine/tracker/live-results/ This is the NFL.com combine tracker. It allows you to sort by position and by event to see how everyone scored. Also, you can now pay NFL+ to watch the combine… thank$ Goodell, you $ure are a $well guy. 🙄 1 Quote
Maine-iac Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 I don't want another undersized DT but Kancey is impressive. He would probably be good at DE also given his pass rush tools. Diaby and Adebawore both looking like this years workout warriors. Quote
Maine-iac Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 Diaby and Adebawore posted some workout warrior numbers also. Kancey was already getting lots of talk but in the NFL his size is an issue at DT. Hell if he has so many moves play him at DE. Quote
