Looker--Looker here comes the Cooker. Don't know if you remember that line but this Cook isn't as big & durable as Cookie & he going to need a running mate not just a backup.

8-15 touches a game, basically that's RB1 on our team.  he can handle that.

Congrats to Darnell for showing up prepared, in shape, and perfectly executing on his opportunity.

Put up CRAZY numbers and measurables, and made some great catches.

I still dont think he's a 1st round pick, but would be less concerned about using a 2nd on him.

He's a unicorn and he won't need to do too much in his 1st year. He'd be an immediate upgrade allowing us to run a lot of 12 personnel, which will make our play action game much better (Josh already excels at PA). Knox will start earning his contract and DW would be an absolute problem in the RedZone year one.   This is more about making the rest of the team better for year 1 but I think Baltimore takes him at 22 to pair with Mark Andrews. He's going to go in the 1st round.

I've just seen the video of Washington's one handed catch at the combine. Great.

His movement to get him in a position where he had to make it a one handed catch. Not great. It looked like a taller version of me running a route.

Back when I was hoping he'd be there for us in the third. I now think he will be off the board when we pick in the second. But with him, Mayer and Musgrave there will be a great TE there at 27 imo if the Bills are so inclined.

I don't know about the 1st round but I wouldn't mind having him on our roster.  He would help in short yardage and goal line both run blocking and giving us someone who could literally just post up for a catch.

Why not? If you can get a difference making TE why not grab one? Two TE offense can be dangerous as we saw with Gronk/Hernandez days in NE. I know people are banging the drum for a WR but what if we can get a TE that can move the chains instead?

We have one that they don't use but we could always get another they just need to learn how to put them in play I would love to see them set up Knox more to diversify the offense & Washington is a BIG target .

I think Washington could be a great selection. Bean likes traits and is looking for a mismatch type player. He may be gone before our 1st round selection.

Darnell Washington’s true value goes beyond personal stats, but more so to put a defense in a bind. It’s about dictating how the defense plays us. Consider this…

Ken Dorsey wanted to implement 12 Personnel to this offense last season. 12 Personnel involves one running back and two tight ends, who in theory, can be a mix between a fullback or slot receiver at the line of scrimmage. The offense can look one way, and then another when it needs to be. The problem is Dorsey didn’t have the horses to do it along the OL and depth at TE.

Last season we used Quinten Morris, Reggie Gilliam, and Bobby Hart in 12 personnel, none of which is a threat to block and catch, which leads me to the impact Darnell Washington can have on this team as a dual threat TE and de facto 6th OL, which are hard to find.

By upgrading the offensive line, and having Knox and Washington on the field together in 12 Personnel will create mismatches in both the running game and passing game. It forces Defensive Coordinators to go big or small by choosing between having a 3rd LB on the field or a Slot CB. The 12 Personnel can attack defenses both through the air and on the ground. It can be a personnel grouping that features a lot of power running, or it can be one that attacks on different levels in the passing game. It also can be used with both the shotgun and under center formations for the quarterback.

12 personnel can put a lot of stress on the defense with the threat of running the ball versus attacking vertically. With two tight ends, the offense now has eight total gaps they could run to. In turn, that motivates defenses to bring more defenders in to defend those gaps and leaves space vertically and outside. The strength of 12 personnel is in its ability to help make the defense predictable. You’ll often see Cover 3 with an extra safety down at the line of scrimmage to help against the run. You’ll also be able to create a predictable picture in the run game against even fronts. If you know how the defense is going to align makes the job of the offense that much easier.

The problem we’ve had is opposing defenses doesn’t respect our running game since it doesn’t pose a threat, its primary focus is containing Josh Allen and our passing game. Implementing 12 Personnel with Washington and Knox on the field together with the threat of running or passing gets defenses out of that shell and opens the offense for everyone.

Now, I understand 12 Personnel is not something we’ll use most of the time, and won’t cure all of our problems, but will make us harder to defend, and will make life easier on Allen as well.

The more I research this player, the more I like this pick.

A monstrous 6'7 player that some people think could even be a linemen if he put on weight, but runs a 4.5 and has incredible hands.

Is a powerful blocker, so would help our average o-line, and huge frame for contested redzone catches.

I would much much much prefer the upside of this player (he could take the league by storm, ala Gronkowski) over another standard 6 foot WR, that even at full potential, isnt going to be much better than "good".

EDIT; 4.6 actually - not 4.5

He’d be one of my targets either at 27, or somewhere been that and our current R2 pick.  Could create unique mismatches, give Josh an extra weapon and offer possible OL support too.  The Keith McKellar to this offense.

It still really bothers me the Bills have never had a top 5 TE. It’s also weird how we don’t considered a TE to be a number 2 receiver. My dream is someone falls in love with Washington’s physical tools and pushes Mayer down to us. We could do some amazing 2 TE sets and make us a better running team as well.

The only thing I worry about is why didn’t he get more chances. I loved OJ Howard and he reminds me of him. He seemed sure to be the next dominant TE but he might just be more impressive on paper than the actual field. Could be wrong though.

Washington is my guy at #27 now as well.  The guy is just a physical freak. His catch radius really intrigues me. Not only is he one of the tallest TE's in the draft, but he also has the longest arms and biggest hands.   He is the tallest TE in the draft, he has the longest arms, biggest hands, the heaviest and despite all of those positives in terms of size, he still posted the 6th fastest 40 time for a TE at the combine.

The only metric he was below average at was the vertical where he tested the lowest at 31" But his height, frame, and arm length should be enough to overcome that.

I have a feeling he could end up going well before #27 when all is said and done.

I wouldn't hate it. Was hoping to get him in the second with a trade up. You might consider a trade back from 27. Given the nature of this draft, I think maybe you stick at 27 and take the fella. The LB folks are going to riot.

I would rather trade up for Kincaid, btw. He's not a blocker and Washington is great there, but Kincaid is a threat all over the field.

I drool over his potential but as of right now he would be nothing more than a 6th O lineman and red zone specialist because he’s not a natural pass catcher or route runner. I think he can develop and could be a top 10 TE in the league some day but for the next year or 2 when we’re in our Super Bowl prime I’m not sure we want to invest our first round pick on a great blocking TE. If he falls to us in the 2nd then heck ya I’m in

Not a chance he gets to 59.
