PromoTheRobot Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050525/ap_on_..._amnesty_report So we have become the same as those "empires of evil" we used to fight. I'm sure to be flamed for this, especially by people who say 9/11 gives us the right to do anything we want to anyone. I just think it's very sad. One thing is for sure...no one in the rest of the world sees the USA as the defenders of justice and liberty anymore. PTR

PTR 344343 I am so glad that we have people like you around that so in tune with the pulse of the rest of the world. I mean after all there are a whole 10 cases of documented abuse in the whole camp from a bunch of terrorists who seek nothing more then to destroy us and our way of life. Yes we should all cry for these people who want to kill you, you mom, your sister and your children. Of course I am sure that these 10 individuals out the several hundred did nothing to bring any of it on themselves. They are purely innocent victims. No your attitude is why this country is in trouble. You would rather have everything you know destroyed by a known terrorist then figure out what he knows and what his plans were.

Johnny Coli Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 I'm sure to be flamed for this, 344343 Should be easy to predict the responses from the right in this thread. "You're not in the military/government/defense department, so you don't know what you're talking about." "What Saddam did to his people is far worse than anything we've ever done." "I can't believe you would defend those animals, you commie/liberal scumbag." "Amnesty International has an anti-US agenda." "This is the kind of crap that shows why the left will lose another election. Support the troops, my ass." "These animals are terrorists, and therefore don't fall under Geneva convention rules." "These animals are trained to say they are being tortured if captrured." Anybody got any others to add? Which one's am I forgetting?

One thing is for sure...no one in the rest of the world sees the USA as the defenders of justice and liberty anymore. PTR 344343 This isn't playtime, Promo. Apparently you missed the memo: these ANIMALS in Guantanamo want to see innocent Americans die. They started this, not us. They must be made to pay, no matter the costs. They're not American citizens. They're not even combatants by legal definition. No, these "people" are international criminals and murderers. And all the whining of Amnesty International won't change that. Hell, the very fact that Amnesty International...which just happens to be headquartered herw in the good old US of A...was allowed to write such a report is proof that we are NOTHING like the "evil empires" of the past. Get a clue.
Tux of Borg Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 Last night I was reading specific incidents of prisoner abuse at Guantanamo Bay. One of the claims were MPs were throwing nerf footballs at the detainees. Let me tell you, my heart really goes out to them on that one.

Pine Barrens Mafia Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 Maybe the part about terrorists cutting people's heads off. Why dont you and Promo have anything to say about this? 344365 Because WE are the bad guys, dammit! Can't all of you evil fascists get that?!?! We're nothing but oil and money hungry imperialists out to oppress the poor Muslims all over the world! We're flushing Korans down the hopper a thousand a day while barely armed Iraqi children bravely resist us by strapping bombs onto their delicate little bodies! Death to America!!
VABills Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 Try seeing the big picture. 344362 He needs new glasses.
GG Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 He needs new glasses. 344368 No, he needs the Village Idiot to contribute to the thread.
SilverNRed Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 Maybe the part about terrorists cutting people's heads off. Why dont you and Promo have anything to say about this? 344365 When terrorists cut people's heads off (and videotape it) or take over a school and massacre children (and videotape it), liberals like to spend years trying to figure out the "root causes" of why they're acting out. They can't be bad people. We must have drove them to do this. When terrorists accuse Americans of not handling a Koran properly or giving them sufficient hugs and kisses in prison, it's because "we aren't the good guys anymore in the eyes of the world." Because we are bad people.
SilverNRed Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 He needs new glasses. 344368 He needs to remove his head from his ass before he heads over to LensCrafters, though.
GG Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 Actually, I have an issue with the thread's title "Is this America anymore?" By which historical standard is the implication that what US is doing in Gitmo, worse than it had done in the past? Or is the US being held to an ethereal standard?

Johnny Coli Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 My intention wasn't to comment on Amnesty's claim, nor was it to defend PTR. My point was that these threads are becoming pretty damn predictable. He knew he was going to get flamed, yet posted anyway. All these threads end up the same.

As bad as they both are, I am just not seeing the same amount of this sort of dangerous, starry eyed idiocy from the right.

Yup...obvious things are easy to predict, but I noticed that you didn't refute any of them.
Alaska Darin Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 All these threads end up the same. 344379 For good reason. The left just can't grasp that huge government will abuse its power. Nature of the beast, yet they continue to clamor for it when it involves their pet programs and rail against it when it's not something they're directly for.
