TheyCallMeAndy Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 Here’s the game: rank our 24 free agents from most likely to least likely to re-sign. Unrestricted free agents: OG Ike Boettger WR Jamison Crowder LB Tremaine Edwards OT Bobby Hart S Jaquan Johnson RB Taiwan Jones QB Case Keenum LB A.J. Klein WR Jake Kumerow DE Shaq Lawson S Dean Marlowe P Sam Martin LB Tyler Matakevich OT Justin Murray DT Jordan Phillips S Jordan Poyer OG David Quessenberry OG Rodger Saffold RB Devin Singletary TE Tommy Sweeney OG Greg Van Roten Restricted free agents: LB Tyler Dodson CB Dane Jackson CB Cam Lewis Obviously you don’t have to do all 24, but I figured this is the perfect time since no one has been re-upped or tagged yet. 🦬 1 Quote

K D Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 The cheaper ones are going to be more likely to re-sign but doesn't correspond to need or talent. If they can get X player at vet min then they are likely to sign them as they are a known commodity even if they aren't necessarily a good player and perhaps they are secretly hoping they get beat out in camp Quote
Simon Says Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 Fun exercise if I had more time. Keep in mind some of these guys might be considered for depth pieces AFTER the draft. Quote
BuffaloRebound Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 Edmunds and Poyer are the only guys who aren’t JAG’s. The punter, Keenum and Lawson are the only guys I’d keep over a vet minimum guy or rookie. Phillips is an out of shape injury prone guy you can’t depend on. Quote

Everyone else can walk. I'd like Poyer, but I don't think he wants to stay in New York. Ideally we could Tag/Sign and Trade Edmunds. Edited February 22, 2023 by Warriorspikes51 Quote

Chaos Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 During the Patriots era of domination they had a core of about 6 high end players and 16 others that changed frequently. The Bills core I s Allen and Diggs and Knox on offense. Miller White and Milano on defense. Everyone else is either a JAG or a JAG with potential to be more. In the final analysis Miller and whites injuries could not be overcome in the playoffs. Knox and White are concerns going forward. Diggs is 30. Miller is 34 this March. All of sudden the Bills are starting to feel like a rebuild. 2 Quote

Is there anyone on the roster that predates this regime? Lawson got drafted the prior year (2016) but left and came back. Our LS is also a 2016 addition. That it. Always a lot of turnover on NFL teams. Quote

TD716 Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 Resign these, all the rest let go boetteger-nominal $ coming off injury crowder—2-3 year deal edmonds— multi year lawson— multi year deal martin—2-3 year deal poyer-2-3 year deal klein—1 year singletary if reasonable. If not there are a lot of options 1 1 Quote

My higher priority players would be Phillips and Lawson. Edited February 22, 2023 by Alphadawg7 Quote

If not there are a lot of options This plan has us leveraging the future just to re-sign our own. Allen restructure gets us out of cap jail. Then we need pull a couple more levers to free up Edmunds money. We would need to restructure every candidate we have, and likely backload contracts/void years, just to bring back two core defenders on a defense that hasn't stepped up when it matters. Quote

You can’t lay 2 studs at every position (Edmunds and Milano, Poyer and Hyde), esp when protecting the QB and giving him weapons is more important. I don’t think Knox os a concern is Dorsey uses him properly. Quote
LABILLBACKER Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 The only ones I'm signing is: Boettger Keenum Lawson Marlow Martin Jackson 1 Quote

Spotrac FA list by team. You can change that to any team and hit “update”. Between 20-30 FAs is typical. Most teams like to churn the bottom of their rosters. 1 Quote
