Plus rookies and young players never get developed. Are Poyer and Edmunds the right guys to draw the line on? I think I’d rather bring those 2 back than keep Oliver, Tre White, or Taron Johnson. Settle too. When healthy Poyer is a better football player then Edmunds and Oliver. And Tre White as well, if he looks next year like he did at the end of this season. Settle was lousy this year. And that was a big disappointment. I am a big Poyer fan. Sure he was not real good at the end of the year. But if he can get well. (Meniscus tear is not overly major in today's game) and will take a reasonable two year deal, (no guarantee) I would keep him and Taron Johnson, who makes a lot of tackles, and try and find replacements for the rest of the guys you mentioned. benderbender Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 Poyer, his beautiful wife, and his loan shark agent chewing on a toothpick and flipping a nickel, (pictured here) have all made the bat signal of “overpay me.” Poyer made the case to be paid by being an iron man this season, and not holding out preseason. His media postulation and his wife’s social media have played their parts perfectly. He comes off looking wronged and undervalued. Hats off to the bull. Rosenhaus has completed the sweep and the FO looks duped. Quote
ColoradoBills Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 Poyer will most likely get a 3-year $30M contract even at his age from some team with a young secondary. He'd be a perfect fit for someone like the Bears. Big city will please the wife and so would the money! Quote

ghostwriter Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 You don’t overpay a 32 year old safety, that’s stupidity. If he wants to sign on a 1 yr $5M deal or so fine, but this is a gross misuse of resources if we give him $14M. 1 Quote
John from Riverside Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 So my question is if we let Tremaine Edmunds go in free agency does resigning Poirier become more likely Quote
DCofNC Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 No way you tag him, the basis of his extension is then directly tied to the 14M number. What’s the best bargain you are going to drive? Hey JP, take 2 years for 18M and we won’t “force” you to take $14.4 M guaranteed this year.. riiight. 1 1 Quote
Toyo321 Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 Poyer is not going to be resigned, he walks. To many other holes to fix and Micah is coming back anyway. Quote
DapperCam Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 Poyer seemed washed at the end of the year and playoffs. It’s possible he was just banged up and he’d be back to normal after healing up in the offseason. Seems risky and expensive though. Quote

The tag would be $14.46 million and give Buffalo until mid-July to work on an extension for the veteran Poyer, who turns 32 in April." Does this make any sense? no makes no sense. Bills would need to clear cap space for that 14.46 million and Poyer then holds the cards. He could threaten to sign it and lock in that Bills cap hit for one year at 14.46 mill or hold out for deal to his liking while Bills nervously wait to see what he does and hamstring them on other moves as this ties up much needed cap space to get better where more needed. Like O line. Quote
BBills_88 Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 Can we move on from poyer, I rather draft a younger more athletic S or grab 1 in FA. Yes, he was great, but we cannot keep players forever. He is getting older, his body not holding up the same. Quote
Nitro Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 Odds are they walk away from Poyer and Edmunds. Try draft picks or FAs (cheaper ones). This defense will be in the mid teens and the Bills will try to win with overwhelming offense. Random late night opinion. Quote
