No idea yet what the terms of the new deal are. Gabe needs a big year to earn the big paycheck, but he’s already done things Hodgins could only dream of, like 4 TD’s in a playoff game. Gabe can only milk that KC game so long. This upcoming season is his contract year. So if he wants the bag, he better stop dropping balls. Quote

He DOES have talent, and a new WR coach might help. I appreciate a WR coming back with a high ankle sprain because his team needed him. You can say it didn’t cause the drops, to which I reply I still have more faith in him than many. Time will tell. Quote

Tipster19 Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 In addition to not drafting well McBeane seems to be letting the wrong players go. 1 2 Quote

Davis is a guy the radio guys - Tiki barber, Bart Scott, Craig Carton etc have talked about the Gmen acquiring to get Jones some weapons. They must've thought he was a FA this year but they all spoke very highly of Davis. Let's face it, Hodgins just couldn't Crack our roster and it took multiple injuries and Toney trade for Dabol and Co to aquire him. It's not like he was plucked off the p.s immediately. 31 other teams passed on him for weeks but it's a great story and wish him well. If Davis, hypothetically, was on the p.s, he'd be signed by someone that day. He's clearly superior to Hodgins and is a great WR to have as a big role player. His awareness is great, he generally excels at "toe drag swag" and controlling his feet, his big play ability is great, he just has too many drops unfortunately. Just doesn't cut it as an every down WR but great chess piece as a role player. 2 Quote

Captain Hindsight Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 Bills fans need to let this one go. Hodgins made plays for the giants because they had exactly no one else. Darius Slayton led the team with 724 yards on 46 catches. Barkley had the most catches with 57, Richie James also had 57. Good for him making the most of his opportunity, but this is not letting go of Danny Woodhead for a backup FB like Rex did once or Wes Welker like chargers/dolphins did. If Hodgins ever tops 700 yards in a season, I will be shocked 1 Quote
dollars 2 donuts Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 (edited) Poor Giants and their fans. Those 60-75 (or even more) receptions are going to be a noose around their necks. A panic decision by them at $870,000. I know, I know, I know. I'll apologize now. "We had so many good receiver in front of him," "if he were that good he would have proved it on the field," "he couldn't block or play special teams," "yada, yada, yada." "They Bills know way more than us, and we are just stupid plebes." "Don't question The Process." "They've been here since 2017 and you've only been following the team for half century." "You are going to die without seeing them ever win a Super Bowl and that is completely OK." "We Jack***es coming in with 🙄 emojis in response to this post have it all together and know how wrong you are, because even though what you are saying actually happened and is frustrating, the contrary result is better for us in the long run because [insert stupid reason here]." "I would take you more seriously if you didn't [insert grammar or punctuation error here]." "Eat at Joe's, because the chili really isn't that bad." "The best thing we could have ever done was get Lamonica off this team." OK, OK, there...are we good? I will eat at Joe's. Edited February 17, 2023 by dollars 2 donuts 1 Quote

Florida Bills Fanatic Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 Although I like him, a one year deal at the veteran minimum doesn't scream a valued starter to me. He'll probably be a bench player with limited playing time. If he is anything more than that, the Giants will be in big trouble with the position again. 1 Quote

The Giants are almost barren at the position and it was a no-brainer on their part. He's a decent warm body and place holder until they can flesh out the position. It's a CYA move at a small cost for the team and a 'prove it' deal for Hodgins. Maybe he has a serviceable career or better, maybe not. Good for him. Hopefully, for his sake, he can finally stay healthy. 2 Quote

Yeah, they are going to be trying to bring in a bunch of WR talent. Hodgins might not even make the team, when all is said and done. 1 Quote

Exactly the point if Hodgins would have been given a real chance on the active roster rather than say Mckenzie, which cost more money & really didn't do as much as they thought for the money he's paid we could have possibly seen Josh develop a chemistry with Hodgins a much bigger (what they thought when drafted) slot receiver & had him longer for less money . 1 Quote

McKenzie and Crowder were the perceived answer at slot receiver last year and now it looks like having Shakir and Hodgins would have been the better choice going into this season. I'm not a McKenzie "hater" but I think we all have seen his ceiling. 1 Quote

If he is the only option, then wouldn’t defenses pay more attention to him and make it more difficult on him? Or did they simply decide to not cover the only option they have? Quote
