theRalph Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 (edited) The NFL gets the trophy for stupidity following SB LVII, based on the following three merits: 1. They change the field to resemble a PGA green, then paint much of it so it plays like a Water Park surface. 2. They assign Carl Cheffers as referee—who is proven to be over-officious—and, of course, he decides the outcome. 3. They treat us to a mind-numbingly dull halftime show (because they couldn't get another artist to pay the fee). Edited February 13, 2023 by theRalph The complaints were correct. 2 5 1 4 5 2 Quote
Draconator Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 So you're ok with just getting to the Divisional Round/AFC Championship, but never contend for a NFL Championship. Got it. 3 4 Quote

I'm Spartacus Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 Painting a huge part of the field was a bad decision. Players were sliding all over the place. 2 5 Quote
Solomon Grundy Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 Out of curiosity, does anyone know the number of Chiefs games Carl Cheffers officiated this season? For some reason it seems he's always reffing their games Quote

And apparently they've been working on this field for 2 years. The process cost 900k. There's a video out there I'll post when I can but it's almost comical they put in all that effort and epically failed. Almost as much of a joke as the zebras been for years Quote
LeGOATski Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 The only considerable problem I see is the ref. And that was such a stupid ticky tack penalty to call at such an important time in the game. Not sure it even was a penalty. 1 5 1 Quote
nedboy7 Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 The Super Bowl is such an unpleasant sporting event on so many levels. At least have it on Saturday eve. 1 Quote
starrymessenger Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 The flag was late. Wonder if it was thrown only after Pat starting jumping up and down? 1 1 Quote
Futilebreadmachine Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 I'm not sure I'd say that the game itself was overly-officiated, at least in terms of overall called penalties (six I believe). Of course it's that last one that's the killer. Agree with many others that it was ticky tacky and man what an overall buzzkill to what had been a nice back and forth contest. I enjoyed the game. I usually skip the halftime show and this year was no exception. 1 Quote

So I wouldn't think too hard about conspiracies. Quote
BillsShredder83 Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 Super stupidity is spot on, but with a dash of irony to OP 1 2 Quote

gregmo Posted February 14, 2023 Posted February 14, 2023 Yeah, after a great game, it comes down to a game- deciding penalty that was questionable. Flag was also thrown by the official with probably, IMO, the worst view. Quote

Thrivefourfive Posted February 14, 2023 Posted February 14, 2023 The field. How could an NFL grass field be that bad. Every step left a two foot long divot. And the slipping. My god the slipping. I just don’t understanddddd Quote
