I haven't watched a halftime show in 20 years...regardless of which genre of music. I like concerts and music....I just don't like the Super Bowl halftime show. If they switched it up to something amazing like Cirque or danger acts like tight rope walking across the stadium and some dude jumping from a 100 foot pole into a shallow pool. I will watch. Or even top BMX riders doing amazing flips. 1 1 Quote
TheyCallMeAndy Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 NFL should just sell the half time show rights to WWE, we can just get a 20 minute match instead of a limp sync battle. 1 1 Quote

I thought breaking the old model of narrow channels of distribution (controlled by record companies and whoever) would end up letting smaller and different acts grow and compete and everyone find their audience. Strangely, while some some artists get big via grass roots promotion, what sells even more than before is celebrity itself. I just be reactionary (I mean, I am, but I don't think im knee jerking on this one item) but something about that seems pretty terrible to me. I don’t disagree with you. I’m just accepting that it’s a generational thing that I will never understand. The Gen Zs are just simply not bothered by a lot of the artistic integrity stuff that seemed to be important to me. 1 Quote

Were they not tied off, as in wearing a upper body harness and having a lanyard attached to that harness, and the other end of the lanyard attched to a secure point on the platform? Have seen some pics of the show, but not close up shots. Can't imagine that OSHA rules would have been ignored, but who knows, the NFL is pretty powerful. There were no harnesses Quote

Some guy stated that if you look closely, you can see the anchor points very near their ankles. 1 Quote
bobobonators Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 It’s crazy to me how numerous people can watch the same thing on tv and come away with vastly different interpretations of reality. Rihanna was harnessed. It’s black/white. You could even see during the performance when the harness protection was taken off so she could start moving around. Quote

It appeared Rihanna was tied off, but looked like some of the backup dancers didn't have a safety harness on to me. 1 Quote
FieldGeneral Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 Halftime shows aren't for football fans. Quote
TheyCallMeAndy Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 Maybe the pro bowl should happen during the SBs halftime? Quote

JohnBonhamRocks Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 I heard from an industry professional insider that Rihanna did indeed float on her own, but the energy it takes her to levitate renders her unable to sing, thus the lip-synching. Also, that insider hinted the lip-synching was in fact her unborn child singing from the womb. Don’t shoot the messenger. 1 1 Quote
