Big Turk Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 Well deserved for Dabs. Kind of shocking how McD hasn't won one yet with as much as he has turned this team around. 11 7 4 2 Quote

Andy1 Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 He is deserving but the NYC market helps get recognition too. Jets get offensive and defensive rookies of the year. 1 5 Quote
78thealltimegreat Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 Daboll earned it but honestly this award should just be called the coach of the team who didn’t suck as bad as we thought award cause it should have gone to Kyle Shannahan. 1 3 1 Quote
US Egg Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 Daboll earned it, McD being on the periphery is as close as he’ll get. Having a JA17 type at the helm can diminish an overseers positives. 1 Quote
DapperCam Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 COTY award is actually the “coach that turned a god awful roster to be somewhat respectable” award. Otherwise Belichick would have won it for a decade straight and Reid would have won it for the last 5 years including this year. 2 1 2 Quote
KingBoots8 Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 Dabes earned it. I could argue Siriani but I’m happy for coach to get his due. I wish him a ton of success unless it’s against us 1 Quote
LeGOATski Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 Yeah, McD kinda did the same thing in his first year. Brought a crappy roster to the playoffs with Tyrod Taylor at QB and broke a 17 year playoff drought. But it's Buffalo and not NYC. 1 2 4 2 Quote

Buffalo_Stampede Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 (edited) McDermott coaching tree looking good so far. Andy Reid coaching tree still the best. Edited February 10, 2023 by Buffalo_Stampede Quote
Man with No Name Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 as others have said, best coaches this year are sirianni, shanahan, and reid. kind of a weird award given with fuzzy logic. 1 Quote

Carroll deserved just as much as Daboll. But I think the award always goes to the coach of the biggest surprise team or the coach of a team that dominates the league. Daboll and Carrol are probably the biggest surprises last year. Pederson also but Trevor Lawrence was supposed to be in the playoffs at some point. Doc Brown Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 The last three coordinators turned coaches who won it their first season were Sean McVay, Matt Nagy, and Kevin Stefanski. McVay was able to maintain it by spending like a teenager with a credit card. Nagy was a massive failure after his first year. Stefanski has struggled since winning it. The true test with Daboll is whether he'll be able to win year in and year out like McDerdott, Reid, Harbaugh, Tomlin, etc... have. 3 Quote
Wayne Cubed Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 Thought it was Shanahan or Sirianni. This award is a lot like the Comeback Player of the Year award for me in that CPOY tends to be the guy who came back from injury to play again. Coach of the Year is somewhat predictable, "who's the first year coach who did better than we thought." You could argue that a player who elevates his game massively or makes a giant leap should be in line for CPOY. It's like COTY could be split into 2 and CPOY could be as well. Quote
