Nice strawman you've constructed there.

Fact is, that I can name several failed picks from the last five drafts, pretty easily.

Ed Oliver

Boogie Basham

AJ Epenesa

Highlight the list.

Beane hasn't been fantastic in the draft where he DESPERATELY needs to be with the contract situation we've got going.

being better than the drought teams isn't good enough. that's a REALLY low bar. aim higher.

They’re getting 2-3 starters every draft on a championship caliber team.

Not many top level players. A lot of average to below average starters. They find players that fit into the system. We do need some top level players eventually.

I agree with this. This will be the year where it all comes apart for this regime. I wish we could fast-forward and get it over with.

JAX will likely beat us and officially pass us as a top AFC team. Better players…better coaching. Our trajectory is going down and there’s is going up.

Our window is shut with this coaching staff and core group of players. It’s time to start the rebuild. Someone wake Terry up.

Agree mostly but the last paragraph is pretty harsh. I think I the window is slowly closing and not shut. Allen with a tiny bit of help can take the team to the playoffs. Many will still see this as a success especially after the past Bills teams.

The team doesn't need to rebuild since they are still a top tier team. However, they need more than a tweek as some have suggested. Big upgrades needed on the lines and at WR.

Expectations of this team should be tempered. The thoughts of a Super Bowl run next year should be an afterthought.

The Bills desperately need new blood and changes in the coaching staff and schemes. Fraizer needs to go, Dorsey needs to show more, McD has to prove he can get over the hump. Beane has to show he can win it all not just have successful regular seasons.

13-4 .  So many key guys who were out this year coming back, added to the existing base of talent, plus another solid Beane draft, I really don't see why not.

Thank you!  I was wading through 8-9 & 10-7 posts, and posters saying that we're stepping back this year.

Why would we?  Miller will be back for most of the season.  Hyde will be back, and we all hope Tre gets back to form.  Players like Elam, Shakir & Cook are all poised to take a next step.  And with an improved line (it will be), Allen will likely have one of his best years.

I'm bullish on '23.

And who is quarterbacking Miami?

Tua proved he is pretty good. The team chemistry with him aboard is at another level.

His skill set is limited but his leadership, grit, and ability to win is above average.

Of course can he stay healthy.

sorry but ts way too early...but has this roster itself hit a peak talent-wise ? with several years of general improvements but cap-driven potential losses ?  Poyer Singletary..likely...Edmunds possibly

The easy part is over, tearing down and rebuilding and following the process which is now stuck in playoff mediocrity.

Some constant issues:  O-line pass pro and run consistency, pash, rush and 4-5 in playoffs with no road wins under the McBeane management...

62–35 (.639) in regular season under coach McD...aided in part by Brady's departure and weaker than average AFC east rivals coaches and GMs, which has changed and changed rapidly....AFC East could be best in AFC and maybe NFL ?

usually we are in the top 10 as far overall team age, which speaks to coach McD vet preferences...the cap already infuenced last season roster depth...had to bring in min wage vet depth:  Shaq, Rhodes, Brown, Beasley, Klein, Marlowe...hard to expect a change here given McD preferences and the tight cap ?  Would in-house vets like Shaq, Philip (shoulder surgery), Klein come back for the min ?  Got an alternative that fits the cap and the coach mindset of not playing cheaper rooks ?

The 2023 externall challenge: The Chiefs and now the Bengals are the chase..plus they have more cap flex than we do...and now more importantly the division with the Jets coaching and drafting well, a qb away from the playoffs possibly and the Fins who have made big improvement with coaching (Fagio) and speedy Hill and edge rush Chubb to compliment Phiilops who owns Spencer Brown and a good overall D already made the playoffs and almost beat us with a third-string qb ?

The 2023 internal challenge:  Dorsey was ineffective the second-half and into the playoffs having difficultyto re-adust to adjustments with a weak O line..and the D playing too basic and loose against more speed, pro bowl qbs and good coaching/scheming....

so the pressure mounts on McD for wanting to run it all back again with his coaching staff based on the confidence of regular season success versus playoff failure.

FWIW....the new safety coach did work with a D that only gave up 15 TD passes which was tied for league lowest...so hopefully he can have some new tricks for these old dogs...lets hope so

If the season started tomorrow Bills would be favored in a minimum of 14 games, likely 16. And 1.5 underdogs at KC.

11-6 and win the AFCE and frankly  right now , I would be pleased with that.

What if they started out 11-0?

The thing about announcing you think you'd be pleased with a certain W/L slate is that we really are rarely impressed with records in the final analysis..............it's how they got there and how it ended.

I do think 11-6 is a reasonable estimate but what remains to be seen in the next couple months is how they re-tool the roster:

1. Are they all in on both sides of the ball, pushing big money down the line?

2. Are they chips-in on offense at the expense of defense?

3. Or do they get sucked back into the defense first, not wanting to lose Edmunds and Poyer,  and re-use the "let Josh figure it out" approach to offense?

We really don't know which way they are going yet..........but they should field a 10+ win team either way.

Really, we could have been undefeated this year.  We had close games we won, also - but the Jets, Miami & Vikings losses were all weird games.  We had to figure out ways to lose those games.

You have to think about the form we were in the 1st couple of months, when we were blowing most teams out of the water.  Injuries and challenges all started to pile up - as they do w/ every team, but I think most fans would put the Bills at the top of the adversity rankings for 2022.

We're rolling that early season team back for 2023 - likely minus Poyer & Singletary, and possibly Edmunds (though I think they re-sign him).  Other teams will improve, but there is no reason we can't have the best record in the AFC if we stay healthy relative to the rest of the conference.

Much is going to depend on free agency (not just for us, but also our opponents).

But my initial guess by looking at the schedule is 10-7.

They gave up the only 15 pass TDs because they were terrible against the run and were almost always behind, very few games anything even close to a shoot-out.
