In his defense, he was throwing to guys the Bills cut and the Bills have some of the worst WR depth in the league.

Oh please, I suppose you still think the Bills should have give Reich the reigns over Kelly too.

that makes no sense at all as a response to my post.  None.

At the begining of the season I was actually thinking that Dabol might tag and trade Jones to the highest bidder. He's done enough this year to show promise but do the Giants (Dabol) want to get rid of him and pick their guy?

Tag him?  No chance.

Genuinely curious, why not? Cap space, tagging Saquon?

If there's some interest from multiple teams wouldn't that be the way to go, especially if you're on the fence about re-signing him.  It gives you imo more options on how to proceed with him but it does limit the team in terms of financials and possibly creates bad blood between him and the Giants.

He was mediocre as a passing QB:  3200 (25th), 15 (tied 21)  6.8 YPA (tied 23).  He's in the range of Jimmy G, Mariota  and Tannehill----and this is his best season since rookie.

How much will a team pay for that? If the Giants don't sing him, that brings his value down, I think. He is most valuable to them in that system.  But if Barkley goes, they are sunk with Jones at QB.

His game against the Vikings may have put him in a position to Rob Johnson either the Giants or some other unsuspecting team.  Or ithat game could have been a sign of things to come, that was interrupted by a team with 70 sacks this regular season. Time will tell.

There might be interest from other teams in signing him to a reasonable FA contract, but with the starting point $32M (for the franchise tag) and a 1st rounder, it's a non-starter.  Jones would be wise to test the market and the Giants let him do so, telling him to give them the right to match any offer.

On Sirius today…there are reportedly multiple teams ready to pay Daniel Jones at least 45 million a year should he hit the open market.

I can just imagine Joe, Justin, Lamar, and Trevor saying after 1 decent year he’s going to get what?

We get on Brandon Beane about things but man signing Josh early is proving to be one of the best things he’s done.

The QB market was set to go crazy once Watson signed his deal.  People thinking that contract is going to be treated like an “outlier” are crazy.  That deal is going to be the standard and Burrow and Lamar’s contracts are will come close to that number, if not exceed it.

Beane deserves credit for locking up Josh after 3, when you could argue that the more pragmatic move might be to wait another season to make sure his breakout year wasn’t a fluke. It saved them a lot of money in the process.

Of course as the contracts are getting bigger, at some point Allen and Mahomes are going to want a new deal.

L.Jackson is not getting that number.

The first is definitely a tough sell for any team but they'd give it up with the intent to sign a long term deal and wouldn't have to use that pick for an impact player this year, since they added Jones to the roster.  The biggest downside I can see would be Jones getting salty and then having a Kirk Cousins situation.

Fingers crossed it happens and he ends up with the Jets

The only human in history who could be Rob Johnson'd ('he's like a Monet!!") is long dead.

Even with Daboll he wasn't that great.

No one will argue he is some top 5 stud, agreed. But the big knock on Jones was turnovers. He was a turnover machine most of the time before Daboll (sound familiar?)

Last year Jones had a 67% completion rate, 3:1 TD to INT ratio (15 to 5), had 4th Q comebacks, and 5 game winning drives. (87.7 rate)

The weapons on the Giants stunk. Before and during the season Evan Engram (TE) was gone and Kadarious Toney got dealt to KC (where he started flashing his ability).

Jones also showed an excellent ability to be a dual threat QB. Does anyone realize Jones ran for 708 yards and 7 TD!?!? (5.9 Average) Wow. To put that in perspective Allen had 762/ 7TD / 6.1 Avg. DJ had 6 fumbles/ JA had 13 (includes lost and recovered)

Jones is clearly the product of good coaching (Dabs and Kafka), but he took to it, and had some pretty crappy coaching before. He will look better and the offense will open up in a second year of install, and once they get some weapons there. Not sure Richie James and Darius Slayton is much of an improvement over Zay Jones and Robert Foster.

Jones is a QB that can get you to  the playoffs some years but will never get you much further than that.  Basically you are hamstringing yourself at the QB position and preventing yourself from potentially getting better at it. Jones has a ceiling similar to Andy Dalton in Cincinnati, aka not high enough if you are hoping to compete for championships.

Look like Sirius was right he’s about to get paid and this will more then likely be a deal in the 40s when all is said and done

Still hope an AFC team gives him that.

Like I said he is about to be a very very wealthy man and will be making more then Allen now

This dude is delusional. Allen's deal is looking like grand theft Beane more and more.

Most folks disagreed when I posted that there needs to be a salary cap carve-out for QB's but here's more proof.  Mind-numbing deals ($40 million for Daniel Jones?) shows that the system is totally out of whack.  It's brutally unfair to RB's on top of other things, especially first round picks where the club retains a fifth year option.  Look at Barkley.  Franchise him for $10 million?  No brainer.
