more people driving around stoned is all it's doing.

Agreed.  This is a horrible idea.  There's a dispensary in West Seneca near Thruway Exit 55.  That's too close as it is.

Smell it in public quite often.  So annoying. Smoke it in your house all you want.

Agreed.  Disgusting.  If someone can't have an open container on the street, then they shouldn't be blazing on the street.  It's gross, and sadly pervasive.

It's not unusual during the summer when I'm out mowing my lawn, that a car will drive by, and I'll smell it.

Me too, when I'm going for a run on a weekday morning at 7a.  It's disgusting, and dangerous.

That one used to be the M&T  bank by the Seneca Mall. I heard Costco may  be buying the old mall property. Cheektowaga has at least 2 I know of.  The old Friendley's on Union near William and in the plaza on Clinton near Harlem.

I think it's a drive thru, too, which might make it even worse.

the dispensaries aren't the issue.  the more dispensaries aren't suddenly going to produce more smokers.  how many years has pot been legal and now we have 2 within a 15 minute drive from my house.  i'm willing to be i can get to 6-8 liquor stores in the same radius.  on top of that, the dispensaries are always clean and secure.  the one i go to on occasion doesn't even let you in the door without showing an id.

on top of that, i have no idea why a drive through somehow makes it worse.  you can get weed in a number of ways.  you can have it delivered or pick it up yourself.  for pick up, you can preorder what you want, walk into the store and just walk out.  what's the difference of getting out of your car to get it vs just driving through.

it's just another service in our community at this point.  the more tax money coming in the better.

As for the bold, if you guys would smoke more, maybe we could have had a dome? I know who to blame now!

Any wonder why people have been going so mental in the last few decades?  Must be social media.😆🤣

The tax dollars help... What can be better.  Hopefully we can be right side up with the equation soon.

We used to sit in the upper deck at Reds games in college. We watched boats go down the Ohio river, and we always had an eye open for the ice cream vendor. It was a pretty chill vibe.

Well you smell it in cars all over the place already. Guess I'm not surprised. Not that a drive thru means you're more likely to smoke or partake in your car but I'm also not sayin you aren't. Smell of beer on you in a car or out in public and it's public intoxication. Smell of weed on you, in your car or in a store and we're all good. It's a double standard. Not that I'm advocating for public drunkeness either. I just get worried with drinking, texting and now smoking. I've got young drivers in my home. But hey I'm wrong I'm sure and there will be some who will mock me for my concern.  But I've lost two former students to this issue already so how excited should I be?

How about smelling like a bottle of vodka coming into work in the morning. Raging alcoholics do have that hungover smell too.  Cigarettes used to hide it when everyone smoked.

When I first started, everyone smoked cigarettes (I never did) still inside... We'd have to paint the ceilings evert year in powerhouse/control houses.

Really disgusting there too...

I understand your worry but I promise you, the drive thru will not increase high drivers.  The ones who choose to drive high are going to do it regardless of circumstance.

I honestly would think drive thru probably produce less high drivers.  They have a stash in their car and don't want to get pulled over so they just head home.

Even as a pot head I could get behind this, if you mean no smoking cigarettes, cigars, pipes or anything else either. Cigarette smoke is the worst.

But then that is quite the nanny state you are setting up.

Maybe.  But why do we have open container laws?  Probably because of the intoxicating nature of the contents.  So why is a smoked intoxicant different?

Dunno. But up until now your entire beef in this thread has been about the smell and having to smell it, and finding it disgusting, pervasive, and gross. Same could easily be said for cigs and any/all types of smoke.

If you want to move the goal posts now that we are getting into limiting a lot of products of the same nature then that's on you. Let's be consistent tho.

As far as the intoxicating nature goes, ask any cop on your walk into the stadium or working any crowd control. They'll tell you they'd rather have everyone on weed which chills people out and makes them more peaceful over alcohol which almost always leads to trouble. So not sure that shift in argument makes sense.

I will say, we took our 9-10 year old grandson to NYC a couple years ago. I wish it didn’t smell like Woodstock.  But it did. He was wise and kind enough to not bring that up. I wasn’t in the mood to go down that road with my young grandson. It’s not my place.
