Here is Pro Football Network today.  One of my favorites so far.  Get a day 1 starter at RT, another OT, and a C/G.  This provides depth this year, and a consistent core for the next 4 years or so.  Mingo is going to be a stud at WR, and Robinson and McBride have both been in Brooks' top 5 in their respective positions during his first 2 rankings.  McBride led college in yards after contact.  This draft also assumes LB Jack or someone else at LB in FA.

Probably too much Iowa:

27: R1 P27 EDGE Lukas Van Ness - Iowa

59: R2 P28 LB Jack Campbell - Iowa

91: R3 P28 WR Tyler Scott - Cincinnati

130: R4 P28 TE Sam LaPorta - Iowa

137: R5 P2 G McClendon Curtis - Chattanooga

205: R6 P28 WR Andrei Iosivas - Princeton

Unrealistic?

27: R1 P27 LB Trenton Simpson - Clemson

59: R2 P28 TE Dalton Kincaid - Utah

91: R3 P28 C Joe Tippmann - Wisconsin

130: R4 P28 WR Marvin Mims - Oklahoma

137: R5 P2 CB Cameron Mitchell - Northwestern

205: R6 P28 DL Moro Ojomo - Texas

I like:

27: R1 P27 EDGE Lukas Van Ness - Iowa

59: R2 P28 LB Drew Sanders - Arkansas

91: R3 P28 C Joe Tippmann - Wisconsin

130: R4 P28 WR Michael Wilson - Stanford

137: R5 P2 OT Tyler Steen - Alabama

205: R6 P28 S Brandon Joseph - Notre Dame

Love the unrealistic one!   4 potential day 1 starters.

The I like, Van Ness, and I could be wrong, seems to not have the production in college that lives up to his ability.  Am I wrong here?  Sanders also worries me a bit as a tweener who has not played a consistent on-ball, off-ball LB enough.  Flip side: great versatility.  Love 91-105 picks, steals.

I don’t know how to view Van Ness.  A first for a guy who wasn’t even a starter in college seems too high to me.  I also wonder if his primarily power pass rush will be effective against NFL OL.  Epenesa was a power rusher in college, too (and pretty effective), but they had him slim down a lot to add speed.  I don’t see Epenesa as a total bust with 6.5 sacks last year, but I’d say fair to say they hoped for more from him.

I understand the apprehension. Van Ness is raw, but his athleticism is really off the charts and is a very different player from AJ. He is just a redshirt sophomore, so he has some development to go through in terms of hand placement and pass rush moves and strategy, but he's going to be very good. He's an upside play and was BPA when I did that draft. I think he will go in the top 15.

Thanks - I hadn’t read or watched many DEs because it doesn’t seem like a likely position for the Bills in round 1.  Of course, a great pass rusher would be in their consideration, if one is available.  I didn’t realize that Van Ness was that much more athletic than Epenesa was.  I wonder how Epenesa would fare in some of those tests now that he has dropped considerable weight.

The last pick was supposed to be a safety but I forgot to pause the draft while I was deciding, so it picked the DL for me.

They should have never changed Epenesa, he'd be a great power rusher by now putting tackles in QBs laps, and going inside on passing downs.

Great question. I’m not sure that Epenesa would ever have that twitch that Van Ness has. Van Ness was a hockey player who kind of switch over to football late just because he’s so damn big. But AJ definitely looks like a better athlete than he ever was before. I’d like to see if he takes that big leap.

In terms of edge guys, I think it is a sneaky need. They need to get to the QB and that is the bottom line. People get upset because they spent a ton of resources on the DL. Sunk cost…that isn’t going to stop them from continuing to add players and use high picks.

I don’t know about great, but they should have just left him and Boogie Basham alone. Let them be who they were meant to be.

I've been double dipping on linebacker recently too and think that this is your best mock so far.  Well done!
