The Dolphins put up 15 points (they were gifted 16 by the Bills offense and ST) and averaged less than 4 yards per play! The QB had a rating of 31.

Still wasn’t a good look from our whole football team and then we laid an egg the next week.  And it was the 4th straight loss in playoffs where defense played poorly

He’s not interviewing because his resume as a HC is poor and he’s a DC, which is not in vogue with most preferred coordinators being on the other side of the ball. Finally, what playoff game against a formidable opponent has his defense been dominant. The short answer is none. If he comes back get ready for mediocrity.

Why would a rebuilding team hire a 64 year old ?

That ship has sailed. His days as HC are over.

He always looks like he forgot his glasses.

He's not a bad guy or a dumpster level coach but it's time to move on.  I'd love to see the Bills Bring in someone young and aggressive that McD can mentor.

I mean did you watch the Bengals and Dolphin games?  It’s a what have you done for me lately league, and his defense was carved up by a depleted Dolphins team and then utterly embarrassed by the Bengals.  Too much focus always on recency bias in this league.  You can be great one day and a problem the next.

2 weeks ago McD was beloved, untouchable, had some COY support growing, and now has his head being called for.  Josh Allen was a top 2 QB by most standards 2 weeks ago…now he’s suddenly the new Phillip Rivers and people turning on him.

A lot can change in 2 weeks in the NFL

To be fair, the defense did a decent job against the Dolphins. Turnovers causing short fields was the issue, and they mostly gave up field goals.

The Bengals game was a whole different story.

As for the McDermott & Allen haters, they will always be here.

Even if the Bills win the Super Bowl next season, they will still be angry and saying that we should be winning our 3rd consecutive Super Bowl.

I just think they need to announce  "We feel we need to move in another direction".....and McD says for now he'll assume the D.C. duties....and then end up calling the plays next year. BB can do it so can Sean.

I know it's a rhetorical question,  but why isn't our "beloved" D coordinator being interviewed for all of these head coaching positions?

I would think that the Bills would get a clue and see that no team would want him running their organization when he totally got outcoached for the last three playoff years.

Just wondering. 🤔

Well, there are maybe a handful to 10 people interviewing for HC jobs, so not a surprise that one of the 64 coordinators in the league is not interviewing.

Head Coach interviews tend to be "hot names", usually meaning guys whose O or D was highly ranked.  People and owners forget that players have a great deal with success.  Yes, coaches can make a difference, but there are few coordinators or position coaches that are so good that they can make a good unit out of lesser players.

Why? So they can be the hot prospect who moves on in 2 years?
With Frazier, we have years of valuable experience and he’s probably following McDermott’s defensive blueprint anyway. Keeping him provides stability and continuity with players who know and understand the system.
The down side may be that the defense has become predictable to opponents. That may be the best argument to bring in a young defensive-minded assistant to put some fresh ideas into the scheme.

This is a rhetorical question right?
