Billsfan1972
Again I blame it solely on the coaching. See below From The Ringer On Sunday, the Bengals had to start three backups who essentially hadn’t played all season: at right tackle, Hakeem Adeniji, the player whose performance at right guard in last year’s Super Bowl probably did more than anyone’s to win the Rams a title; at left tackle, Jackson Carman, the player who was benched at right guard last year to allow Adeniji to fall apart in the postseason; and at right guard, Max Scharping, who was cut during the preseason by the 3-13-1 Texans because he couldn’t find a role on their offensive line. None of these three players had meaningful roles with the Bengals through the first four months of the regular season, and their average Pro Football Focus grade was 48.7 (out of 100). They should have been toast against the Bills. Instead, Cincinnati’s makeshift line dominated against the Bills. Burrow was sacked only once, for a loss of 2 yards. The Bengals ran for 172 yards—more than in 16 of their 17 previous games this season—with Joe Mixon having his second 100-yard game of the season. Look at the massive hole opened up for Mixon on this run, ending with Bills linebacker Tremaine Edmunds getting dumped into the snowy sideline. I don’t quite understand how this happened. There’s no evidence in the careers of Adeniji, Carman, or Scharping to suggest any one of them could be competent NFL players—let alone all three of them at the same time—and we’d seen how disastrous poor line play could be to this exact Bengals team.
Eastport bills
The preparation question is a tough one to figure. Was it poor preparation or. weak personnel and bad matchups. Our D-line was manhandled by backups and our secondary botched assignments and left receivers wide open all game. I choose to blame the coaches.
DuckyBoys
clearly they played their worst game by far Bengals had a good game plan and they pushed the Bills around Think this team has been figured out Soft and no week to week changes/wrinkles on defense
UKBillFan
I posted this on the How Many Chances... thread but it actually seems more fitting here. My concern with McDermott is, since he's become HC, the Bills have had at least one blow out each season. 2017: vs Saints (10-47); at Chargers (24-54); vs Patriots (3-23); at Patriots (16-37) 2018: at Ravens (3-47); at Packers (0-22); at Colts (5-37); vs Patriots (6-25); vs Bears (9-41) 2019: vs Eagles (15-31) 2020: at Titans (16-42) 2021: at Colts (15-41) 2022: vs Bengals (10-27) Every single season there's been at least one game where the Bills haven't turned up on any side of the ball. Where they look clueless, out of their depth, unsur what they're supposed to do, unable to complete even the simplest of schemes and plans. Can we trust the Bills to turn up and not mess the bed at any given time across the board under McDermott? That's my big question heading into the post season. And surely at least some of that is down to preparation?

Scott7975
McD/Frazier defense is basically force the other team to methodically move the ball down the field without giving up the big play. Then hope either the other team makes enough mistakes to punt/turn the ball over or one of our guys makes a star play. That works against a lot of teams. The problem is it doesnt work against the Bengals/Chiefs of the world. It doesnt work against guys with elite QBs because they dont make enough mistakes. Sure you might get them to punt a couple times. You might get them to kick a couple field goals. At that point its on the offense to outscore the other team. Problem is we dont have enough talent to reliably do that. Allen is not going to play perfect ball like last year in the playoffs reliably enough. They havent figured this out yet.
