VABills Posted June 1, 2005 Author Posted June 1, 2005 One more into the fray: The Browns may be interested in free agent tackle L.J. Shelton. They could be showing interest as leverage against tackle Ross Verba, who is currently holding out for a new contract. Jun. 1 - 11:12 am et Source: Canton Repository
John from Riverside Posted June 1, 2005 Posted June 1, 2005 I wouldn't mind having Ross Verba on THIS team
MadBuffaloDisease Posted June 1, 2005 Posted June 1, 2005 Why has no one offered this stud LT a $5M a year contract yet?
Bill from NYC Posted June 1, 2005 Posted June 1, 2005 Why has no one offered this stud LT a $5M a year contract yet? 349093[/snapback] Good question. I am serious. NOW do you see my point about our "pro-bowl" running back?
MadBuffaloDisease Posted June 1, 2005 Posted June 1, 2005 Good question. I am serious. NOW do you see my point about our "pro-bowl" running back? Not really. Travis isn't a FA like Shelton is. If he were, he'd be snapped-up in a second. Teams just have a stigma about trading a pick or picks for a player. And again had the Cards been offered anything decent for Shelton during the draft, they would have taken it since they were going to cut him outright anyway.
Sound_n_Fury Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 Maybe this is part of the reason why the Bills aren't interested in Shelton: http://www.suntimes.com/output/bears/cst-spt-bear02.html The Cleveland Browns entered the mix of teams interested in signing free-agent offensive lineman L.J. Shelton. With veteran left tackle Ross Verba threatening to sit out the season, Shelton potentially could step into a starting position. Wherever he goes, it's likely to be for only a one-year deal. If he played an entire season at left tackle, his value would be higher on the market next year than if he played guard, where the Bears want him. Shelton already has visited Houston. Jacksonville and Kansas City also are interested in the former first-round pick of the Cardinals.
