Beane has consistently whiffed on early round draft picks. we don’t have any difference makers on any level of defense for a defensive head coach lead team (besides a 34 year old 140 million dollar DE with a bad knee) you can’t miss on that many draft picks and expect to have a good team #17 is so good he makes up for a lot of weaknesses on this team until you play a team who can expose them 6 years going on 7 and the o line, d line are soft. We don’t have any playmakers/difference makers besides Allen and diggs and there’s no salary cap space This isn’t a one off season fix. Teams in our own division are getting better. We’re going to take a step back before we move forward I also firmly believe we let the best coach on the staff leave for NY and we’re going to feel the backlash for years to come Neither is going anywhere, I do believe Pegula should insist that Sean fires Frazier because I know Sean will not do this on his own. Sean threw the special teams coach under the bus last season after 13secs to save Frazier's butt. This time he needs to replace him and we a fresh scheme , Frazier's scheme are useless and not willing to adjust. I am sure Sean is a part of that and that was why he got fired himself in Philly . You have to bring pressure in this league or will get beat with the level of QB's in the AFC. Quote

Does McD correct Frazier when he makes calls or takes control. Also the Bills D is horrible. Keep Beane and McD. There’s gonna be a new DC next year I’ll be surprised if he has the onions to fire the DC, everyone at OBD is too much in love with each other. If 13 seconds wasn’t a fireable offense, I don’t know what is. 2 1 Quote

But I would give Beane another chance This is the proper route. I'm convinced McDermott is basically telling Beane who to pick defensively on draft day. Josh is the only path to a SB. Build your damn team around the offense. Hire a offensive HC. We're not winning a SB with McD botching picks or in game decisions. 2 2 Quote

And what’s laughable is that teams will still Interview him for a head coaching job. How insane how this league become??!! Complete insanity! He hasn't gotten one interview this year and he's not likely to. I do agree the Bills need to make a change. Let's hope they do. Quote
Best Williams Available Posted January 23, 2023 Posted January 23, 2023 Beane drafted this guy Josh Allen when everyone thought it was stupid. He’s missing on DL with Sean/Leslie input on scheme. Maybe the scheme just sucks? 1 Quote
SCBills Posted January 23, 2023 Posted January 23, 2023 (edited) McDermott, I’m ready to let him go. I doubt we will, but I’d support it. He’s a defensive guy who’s defense has been trash in the elimination game the past 3 seasons. He’s situationally poor in the big playoff moments. And most importantly, Josh Allen will perennially be at a disadvantage of not having a steady offensive mind at the helm like … oh, I don’t know … EVERY OTHER DIVISIONAL PLAYOFF TEAM. I will say … tonight, watching that DL against a decimated Bengals OL.. first time I’ve thought Beane might not be it. Edited January 23, 2023 by SCBills Quote

PepeSilvia Posted January 23, 2023 Author Posted January 23, 2023 At what point do you acknowledge that the way your doing things is good but not good enough? The defensive rankings have been inflated due to playing on a mostly bad divison the last few years. This scheme works when you have 4 d lineman who can pressure the qb with 4 alone which makes up for a lot of other deficiencies in your defense. When they don’t and you whiff on 1st and 2nd round picks and pay 140 mill to a 34 year old with a bad knee this is the product Look what Daboll and Schoen did in one year in NY? They overachieved for sure, and got blown out by a better team in the eagles but that was bound to happen. he’s fantastic situationally and gets the best out of lesser players. Quote
Billznut Posted January 23, 2023 Posted January 23, 2023 (edited) I said in another post, McD isn’t going anywhere until the Bills have back to back sub .500 seasons. Let me know once that happens and then we can actually discuss McD being fired. PS. And this has nothing to do with what I’d personally like to see happen. It’s just being realistic. Pegula won’t make a move unless it has to be made. Edited January 23, 2023 by Billznut Quote

Its wild, Daboll with less talent got just as far as the bills did this season. Just imagine they have a good draft (not relying on *****in character), get a better QB than Jones and out perform Beane and Sean the next 3-4 yrs. I see support for neither, both or 1 or the other. I just cant see how anything changes enough to get us over the top.. I don't believe either deserve more time to ***** things up or break our hearts again next year. Quote
PepeSilvia Posted January 23, 2023 Author Posted January 23, 2023 (edited) I get everyone wants to defend this team. We all love the Bills or we wouldn’t spend so much time on this board on on them. it’s like if you have a kid who constantly f’cks up but he’s a nice kid and you defend him to the end. At as certain point you have to say it’s not a them problem and it’s a you problem. it’s not the team, it’s the people responsible for the team Edited January 23, 2023 by PepeSilvia Quote

What do you mean by it? Hopefully we are not confusing people choosing to not weigh in on a knee-jerk postgame thread as “no support” That’s how it always is, Josh said it years ago, win and you’re awesome, lose and you suck and we should fire all the coaches. loveorhatembillsfan4life Posted January 23, 2023 Posted January 23, 2023 I’m honestly kind of tired of our defensive scheme and I wonder if Mcd would hand the reigns over to someone who would bring in a different point of view? Or is he hell bent on sticking with his scheme and if so then I dunno.. the last 3 playoffs have been kinda disastrous for the D. The Bengals coordinator is getting a lot of praise for all his different looks he calls. He has had pretty good success against Mahomes and now us. Quote
