All of the Collinsworth defenders are about to swoop in.

It isn't just Bills fans that hate him. Fans from every fanbase, including KC, complain about him. True, he has a lot of supporters as well. Fans are very split on him.

They all get beat up. Even Madden did..

Romo does talk way too much for my tastes.

How is it biased? Mahomes has been one of the best QBs/players in the league for the five seasons he’s played and he will almost certainly win his second league MVP this year. Collinsworth is terribly annoying and way over the top with his constant, effusive praise, yes. But you’re going to have to explain how it’s biased.

He can be a tad biased, but at least he tries to be aware of it and counter it and move himself towards neutral

Collinsworth has completely "jumped the shark" to me.

I gave an example up thread.  When it gets to calling a deep throw that plainly went through the receivers hands and was catchable by Lawrence an "overthrow", while effusively praising Mahomes starting to scramble up the middle and then dirting the ball as "a fantastic effort", that goes beyond recognizing the skill of a superior play, and into "inability to see the game with objectivity or impartiality" eg, Bias.

tying threads together

I don't know if bias is the right word but what would you call it when a different QB (in this case Lawrence) adjusts and makes a great play, and Collinsworth just can't resist mentioning Patrick Mahomes. "We've seen Patrick Mahomes King Patrick throw a few of those". Like wtf even is that.

No Joe Buck after he spilled the tea on the NFL wanting the Bills and Bengals to resume the game after Hamlin almost died. No surprise there.

Buck isn't on Fox anymore.

Constantly talking up the faces of the NFL seems like something the NFL would specifically encourage the announcers to do. I suspect that is the driving force behind it. But, my God, it is annoying. I’m guessing Burrow and Allen get some of the same treatment from Romo today though.

So for me it’s the exaggeration of Mahomes accomplishments that does it for me. He had finally started actually complimenting Josh (after Josh broke his beloved PFF system) and he does speak well of the talented quarterbacks, but his obsession with Mahomes is too much. Talking about throws only Mahomes can make (not true) or him playing with an injury-every guy plays injured. Save the hyperbole for when something spectacular actually happens, not on a 10 yard completion to Kelce on 3rd and 4.

Reminds me a lot of having to listen to Dan Dierdorff talk about Tom Brady

They will but he does it for every QB. Does anyone remember Bills/Steelers when he was going on and on about Kenny Pickett being the next coming of Tom Brady?  That's just Romos style.

Collinsworth just picks a QB and worships. Previously Tom Brady, now Kermit.

I usually don’t mind him, but yesterday he was unbearable. It was too much.

Couldn’t believe when he called Mahomes’ fumble/incomplete pass a “heckuva play.”  There’s no doubt in my mind he didn’t mean to throw that in the dirt… thus being a fumble.

and then later in the game, Mahomes rushes for like 3 easy yards… and CC calls him “magical.”

Come on bro.

Those were two of the playcalls that got to me also.

Then him going off about how Mahomes is the only QB who can throw without stepping into it off his back foot, Aaron Rodgers says "hi" and Josh Allen says "learned it from Rodgers"

Some of it is being schooled by producers over the years, I've said for years an analyst is never better than when he starts out. After they get trained it become unbearable after a few years.

Secondly, there is almost always a bias of style by most experts. Guys who are different like Allen can be hard to accept for someone who believes the game is played a certain way. The same thing happened with the draft and Allen. Joe Burrow fits the mold many of the oldschoolers love. It can be really hard to take because they many times seem willing to go back to old narratives. It's ego driven.

I had to turn the volume down last night during the Collinsworth tongue bath of Patrick Mahomes.  It was absolutely obnoxious, and honestly, I don’t know why they let him call Chiefs games anymore (or any other games).

What would you rather do than listen to one more game called by Collinsworth?

I’ll start.  I’d rather listen to Lil’ Wayne cover the Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon album on repeat for 72 hours straight whilst sticking sewing needles in my junk.

I’d rather go see “Eighty for Brady” with 80 Brady lady-boys, rocking 80 Brady kids bell bottoms for 80 hours, in an ‘80s era, non-stadium seating, theater with stale popcorn and nothing but “Tab” to drink, in Foxboro, MA whilst shamefully sporting a pink Tom Brady *Patriots jersey than listen to Chris Collinsworth call another football game.

Crap. You’re right. He moved to ESPN this season. I had not noticed that.

This seems to have gotten off track. Let me recenter. I’d rather pay to get kicked repeatedly in the junk like the gym teacher from Beavis and Butthead while Fran Drescher screamed the lyrics to Anna Gadda Da Vida in my face through a megaphone than to listen to Chris Collinsworth call another KC game ever.
