RoyBatty is alive Posted January 17, 2023 Posted January 17, 2023 He WAS a GREAT DC, HC, not so much. I think is it s solid pickup as DC. 1 Quote
Sammy Watkins' Rib Posted January 17, 2023 Posted January 17, 2023 The legend of Gym Shorts. The greatest Bills head coach that never was. 1 Quote
Baba Booey Posted January 17, 2023 Posted January 17, 2023 (edited) Where ever he has gone, he's had a good to great D. Good for him. Just sad he's with that tire fire of a franchise. Edited January 17, 2023 by Baba Booey 1 Quote

NoSaint Posted January 17, 2023 Posted January 17, 2023 He will love having Garrett off the edge. If the front four gets pressure he will be excellent. I don’t recall offhand who they have inside but a premiere pass rusher in the middle would be the other piece he really requires 1 Quote
Rocky Landing Posted January 17, 2023 Posted January 17, 2023 I was hoping he'd come here if Frazier got a HC gig somewhere. 6 Quote

clayboy54 Posted January 17, 2023 Posted January 17, 2023 Wide-nine D was new at the time he was here. It surprised a lot of teams and was a special wrinkle at the time. I'm not so sure anyone will be surprised by it next season. The key to our success at that time was Jerry and Mario in their prime. Other teams use wide-nine at times these days. We ought to see what new wrinkle he can come up with this time before we regret that we didn't get him to replace Leslie. Quote

Honestly the success is usually from the inside push. Thats what tennessee had with Haynesworth, Detroit with Suh/Fairley, Buffalo with Dareus/Williams, Philly with Cox. You also usually need a couple good linebackers - at the very least good instinctual players. Bradham was a solid fit and followed Schwartz to Philly after buffalo. Wide 9 has counters of creating rushing lanes for QBs (Who are more athletic now than ever before), inside zone rushing in general, and play action. Their LBs and DTs needed to run this aren't all on the team yet so to me we'll see what they do. 1 Quote

A single season in Buffalo. He's had 3 top 5 Defenses (scoring) in 20 years in the league. Frazier has had 3 in the last 4. 1 Quote
H2o Posted January 17, 2023 Posted January 17, 2023 Schwartz is a quality DC. It is still Cleveland though. Hopefully they reap every amount of misery deserved for their Deshaun Watson involvement and the ensuing contract they handed the criminal. Quote
BarleyNY Posted January 17, 2023 Posted January 17, 2023 Fun fact: It’s not Schwartz’s first stint in Cleveland. He coached there under Belichick before the team moved to Baltimore. Quote
