Thrivefourfive Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 (edited) Having seen both play pre college, and even pre high school, this is personally a fun topic for me. Where do you think this two land? What you you think are the best teams they realistically go to? Who do you have as a better pro, as we know things today? It’s tough for a team to move up considerably to a top five pick, so maybe we’re looking at teams drafting only in top 2-12ish being able to move up to get one or both. Will Levis might be a Josh Allen gift to a team after these two blue chippers are off the board — what team for Lewis. If Detroit could pull it off, I think that’d be great for Young or Stroud. And Seattle, that’s be cool. I think Houston hurts either one of them. Edited January 16, 2023 by Thrivefourfive Levis Quote
Rico Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 Not sure where they go, but Stroud would be off my board, like all other QBs from Ohio State. 3 2 1 Quote

Southern_Bills Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 I didn't watch Stroud play enough to make an honest opinion on him. I do think Young will struggle in the NFL. He's not big enough for starters, but that can be overcome to a degree. The other thing that worries me is he is a rhythm passer who seems to be off target if the receiver isn't on time. Reminds me alot of Tua, minus the injuries. He needs to go to the right system to succeed. He will likely go top 5. Quote
947 Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 I don't really think either of them is a cant-miss stud, but they'll both surely be drafted in the top-5. Young is 5'11" & Stroud is from OSU, both factors are seen as knocks against them. Not to mention both have played their entire college careers with supporting casts that are much better than 90% of their opponents. If I had to choose, I'd go with Stroud. The Bears will trade #1 to the highest QB-needy bidder. Somebody in the top-10 will trade 2 firsts along with other picks/players. The Lions are supposedly targeting Levis, so they won't need to get to #1. Quote

I'm not big on either Stroud or Young, but Young would be my choice of the two. The QB class this year is weak overall imo. I actually like Will Levis and Hendon Hooker out of the entire group to have the best pro careers depending on the situation they land in. Also, the hype surrounding Anthony Richardson as a 1st Round pick is absolutely idiotic. The guy is terrible. He only completed 53% of his passes and didn't throw his 1st TD pass until THE 4th GAME of the season. Anyone who watched him should have the common sense to realize he's a day 3 prospect. Quote

I’d be tempted to take him if I was the Pats if he was there at 14. Quote
78thealltimegreat Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 Young is dynamic but he’s so small and was hurt multiple times in college you hold your breath with every sack. Stroud against Georgia was the best player on the field and completely wore out Georgia. But he’s just so up and down you’ll have to be patient with him. Levis has Sam Darnold written all over him. The one with the most upside is Anthony Richardson but man he is raw and you need to look at him down the road a few years as he isn’t going to help right away. Quote

Thrivefourfive Posted January 16, 2023 Author Posted January 16, 2023 Right around the time Burrow was doing his thing at LSU and Mahomes was doing his thing in year 2, I watched Stroud run a track meet offensive against a top notch opponent on a cold night CIF playoff game. It reminded me of what was happening in college and the NFL. He throws such a catchable ball. He’s talent just popped. Then he was wasn’t a five star, went to a loaded O St team, and earned it. I like that. Young has been mature beyond his years since middle school, and you’re getting a bonafide franchise face, with impeccable character. Sincere. He creates when there’s something of nothing, and runs QB like a point guard. His size is the only concern there, as I fear he’ll be tossed around like a rag doll. Tua. Russell Wilson is a tank. Young is not. These are the two guys. And we know who needs QB, so this conversation is now. It is interesting though that Detroit and Seattle accidentally have viable starters now, so I think those are perfect bridges for both rookies. Quote

RiotAct Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 Texans and Colts would make too much sense for the landing spot of these two. Unless Houston is convinced Davis Mills is the answer? Quote
